Hi Adam,
Here is a link to an older thread where I listed the charges for bringing my SVS sub into Canada (just scroll down 'til you hit my post on the page). This was back in April of last year.

I second the iPod. A very nice little piece of hardware and not cumbersome to use. Don't have one myself, yet. I have lusting after one for some time now. Trent
Brian,
You may want to give this a try. I had a nasty CATV ground loop hum and this fixed it up. The best thing was that I had the piece laying around, so it was a very cheap fix. :D
Trent
Chris,
The 1/4" should work fine. I know that I came across a glass place that had a website and they listed the specifications of the different glass types and thicknesses. I know that how much weight a square foot would support was listed. But for the life of me I can't find the link...
JohnRyan,
Actually the project went very smoothly. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and then many revisions of drawings. I wanted to have things "just right" and my dad always told me "measure twice, cut once". :)
rodneyH,
Thanks. I finally got them this past Saturday so now I have to...
I finally finished my racks, but I don't have a digital camera so I can't post any pics :frowning:
What I ended up building were a few pieces based on the Sanus Natural Audio designs -- 2 four shelf units and one two shelf unit for the TV. I used solid oak and glass for the shelves.
If I can...
Shane,
I am in the process of deciding what to do for speakers right now. I have recently listened to the CDM line (1NT, 7NT, 9NT) and the Nautilus 805 and 804.
The CDM line was very good. My favourate one was the 7NT. It has very good imaging, an open sound stage and you were only missing...
Brian,
I picked up one of the 5 meter lengths when I ordered my CS+. I have never tried any other cable with the sub to be honest. The cable appears to be well built, and it was a breeze to put on. It does appear to be a well built speaker cable.
Trent
Mark,
I too had a hum when I managed to get my s1000 all hooked up. It turned out to be the dreaded CATV hum. So I had a few pieces laying around and followed these directions which solved my hum problems.
Trent
Sheldon,
The values I posted were in Canadian funds. The values are calculated on the Canadian dollar equivalent of the US dollar value. I haven't received the final paperwork from UPS yet to know what conversion rate was actually used.
Trent
Yup, the values I quoted are in Canadian bucks. And I remember years ago that UPS would phone you to ask if you had a customs broker that they could forward the paper work to. If you didn't they would tell you they could clear it for you along with giving you the charge for the clearing service...
Keith M,
I just received my 20-39 CS+ with Sampson amp today. I too have a Yamaha RX-V1. I hooked everything up, calibrated things very quickly, all was fine. I ended up with the Sampson's volume all the way up and with my sub level on the RX-V1 set to -17 (goes from -20 to 0).
Trent
Seeing as I just got my SVS order today, here is how the "Import Charges" (as UPS lists them) break down:
Duty: 0.00
GST: 116.89
PST: 0.00 (we got no stinkin' PST in Alberta :) )
Excise: 0.00
Brokerage Fee: 67.65
Brokerage Fee GST: 4.74
Brokerage Fee PST: 0.00
Freight Collect: 0.00...
David,
I picked up one of these things (model AR-10S) for my sister. She was complaining of a buzzing coming from her TV. Now, the TV is less than 6 months old, and she had it in the shop because of the buzzing. They ended up replacing the picture tube. She got it back and said there was still...
David,
The $101 was the shipping charge that the web-based order form calculated. No duty, or GST or brokerage stuff. I don't know if I want to see that charge! :-) However from what I have read about these subs from all the fine people on here and after getting such stellar service from the...
William,
Have you dropped the guys over at SVS an email yet? They are very helpful. I dropped Tom a quick diagram of my room with dimensions and the layout of stuff. He got back to me right away and helped me choose. The email address is [email protected]
Drew,
I don't believe that a DB-15 connector is the same as a HD-15 connector. If my memory is working -- which seems to be a rare thing these days :) -- a DB-15 connector has 2 rows of pins (8 on top, 7 on bottom) and the HD-15 has 3 rows of 5 pins. The joystick ports found on PCs are DB-15...
When I built my furniture I used plain old velcro. Screwed a few pieces to the back. Works wonderful and very inexpensive.
I also like to keep the wires separate -- speaker, power, audio and video.
Trent
Eric,
The prices I posted are for the laminate finshes. I knew that I'd forget to include something important in my reply.
Dang those flying fingers when they hit the submit button.. :)
