Also check CompUSA, I recently purchased a couple 80 gig Maxtor drives there for $99 each, no rebate. Right now they have Western Digitial's 80 gig for $99 after rebate. They are only 5400 rpm drives, but when your only using them for media storage they are perfect! Especially to chunk up with...
I ended up purchasing 4 Paradigm Titan's, a CC170, and PDR-10 sub, and an Onkyo 595.. I can say that I'm very happy with them and it fills my odd shaped room very well! Still in the process of placing them and running the wires correctly. Someday when I graduate to a larger room, I can see...
I give a vote for the Paradigm Titans. They are about $100 each and sound great. You can always add a sub and more speakers later on for the full effect. You have to goto an authorized dealer to get them, but any speaker is worth a listen before you buy anyways!
Just wanted to thank the many members of this forum, whom unknowingly educated me enough to spend some cash on some nice equipment for a starter home theater! I just purchased 4 Paradigm Titans, CC170, PDR10 sub and an Onkyo 595! This put to rest my trusty Pioneer CS88A's (respectable...
Sounds like the system I'm planning on building, and I'm glad to hear it works great for music as well as movies. What kind of reciever are you driving the Titan/Atom combo with??
No problem, John.. I just didn't want you to think I was thinking of shoving them into a wall or something!
I've never seen or heard them (YET) so they are all new to me. I'm suprised to hear they supply port plugs and recommend using them in a situation like that, I would think plugging the...
When I said "wall mounting" I didn't mean I was going to
nail gun them flush with a wall ("Hows it sound here? Kapow, Kapow, Kapow!") :D I assumed everyone understood I meant with appropriate hardware as not to obstruct the port flow, i just see a Titan making that a little more difficult over...
I'm auditioning some Paradigm Titans/Atoms tommorow, after much research. I've read nothing but GREAT things about these speakers and just have to hear them for myself. If they are as good as everyone says, they will be coming home with me! Atom's seem a little smaller and logical for use as...
Berger, the digital output of the soundcard is encoded as DTS or DD, and fed to the reciever for decoding and amplification, and sent to the speakers. The soundcard isn't being used to decode anything configured like this, just a digital audio source...
Salvador... Optical vs. Coax... I think...
Salvador,
Connecting the digital connection is described in the
manual for the soundcard. It's simply a mono 1/8" mini
jack to RCA cable, the soundcard accepts the mini jack,
and your recievers digital input accepts the RCA jack.
There are also some software settings you need to be...
My goal was always to integrate the PC with the
home theater, and its coming together really nice..
There should be no audio degradation, your PC is
a great source for audio and video! I have a
Soundblaster Audigy, which does have a 5.1 decoder
built into it, however you can also use...
If you are computer savy, I'm starting to see
DVD-R burners in the mid $400 range. Be aware
"DVD-R" is the only standard (as far as I'm aware of)
that will play in the modern stand alone players,
and these early recorders are only capable of recording
to the single sided, single layered 4.7...
It is my first dip into 5.1, and I have not yet
purchased a reciever (shopping around online right
now!) Considering a low end Onkyo, trying to find
the website for Outlaw everyones talking about just
to take a peek. As I said before, I was really impressed
with CSW's computer...
Hello everyone.. I've been reading this board for
many months now and finally decided to become a
member and post (first time)
I was just wondering why there isn't much support
for Cambridge Soundworks setups? When I purchased
a little set for my PC years ago ($100) Everyone
was...
