I agree with you for the most part; I think Ephram's dialog is sometimes *too* mature and calculated even for an "old soul" 16 year-old. I think the writers are trying very hard to make it look like Ephram and Madison are a really good fit, whereas we know their conversations should be more awkward.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I though only the high-end Denons were made in Japan, the rest somewhere else. Didn't it used to be the 3801 and above?
Thank you all for the responses! I have decided to live with non-ideal placement of the sub (and play with the phase switch) until I can afford to have a decent sub and *then* add tactile transducers (the cost of which I have found is more than I originally expected). For the record, I have...
I know that under ideal circumstances bass shakers should only be used to enhance the movie experience for an already complete system with a real subwoofer. Having just moved, I no longer have a good place for my old SA-WM40 in the "theater" area, and was wondering if a pair of Aura shakers, if...
i think gr-research.com still sells the best-bang-for-buck kits under $500 still. I grew up playing the piano and have organ players in the family and would personally build the A/V-1+ if I had the tools and space to do woodwork.
Sean: I read the Dark Materials trilogy last year after finishing all the Harry Potter books. They are really good fantasy in my opinion, but not nearly as captivating as Harry Potter. Therefore, I think it would be a mistake to make films of these books. I think that the religion issue is so...
ChrisWiggles: In my experience, no receivers with PLII have the "original" option. My harman/kardon AVR 320 doesn't. After hearing the difference between my old AVR 20 and the new 320, I can't image anyone wanting to use "original" PL anyway!
isn't DPL II a replacement for, and therefore never found "together" with DPL? I don't know if any receiver has ever had the option of switching between original DPL and DPL II. Otherwise, thank you very much for your hard work!
James Zubb: that "mute" problem you speak of is not a mute, but rather the DAC is taking a while to "click" into the correct mode (in this case, two-channel). It prevents the first .5 seconds of a track to be heard depending on how your CD transport treats the digital signal. If it starts up a...
Lee Petty: i have the entra center 1, which is matched with Axiom M40s (don't ask) and I would definitely go with the entra center 2 for the larger woofers. not that the "1" is struggling, it just sounds wimpy next to the M40s.
Craig: My 320 shuts down randomly, and I eventually determined it is due to the finicky power in my apartment. Sometimes the shutdown would be triggered by turning off the TV, or the refrigerator. The clue was that it would never shut down while under load, only while sitting idle, meaning that...
I bought some "factory outlet" Axiom M40 towers, and they sounded great as soon as I plugged them in. The only cosmetic flaws were some "streaks" on one of the tower's tweeter domes, like some dirty water dried there. Now I know this probably wouldn't affect the sound, but I have a bad habit of...
David Walker: I would recommend harman/kardon receivers to you for music listening, while retaining up-to-date home theater capabilities. After owning two h/k receivers and demoing Denon multiple times, I can honestly say that the h/k sound more "musical" on ALL speakers, and generally are a...
Lewis: in my experience, using the DAC of a decent CD player sounds better than using the DAC of most sub $1000 receivers. Of course, what matters most is if the person listening cares about the difference. Thomas: find a good brick+mortar with a no-strings-attached 30 day return policy and...
Thomas! Now that you have a REALLY good receiver, don't waste your good CDs on crappy Redbook playback. I have a H/K AVR 320, and switching from using a Panasonic RP56 for music to a Sony CA70ES made a noticeable difference (even the girlfriend noticed) on six year old bottom of the line...
making sure that YOU have a seat (if only one seat) in a perfect triangle with the two front speakers is EXTREMELY important to a good HT/Music system. I would argue that the second you have two speakers and an amplifier, you need at least one PERFECT seat in order to get the most out of your...
Jason Co: i was trying to decide between the exact same speakers a month ago, but decided to put it off and save for a new car. I think the most simple recommendation I can give is this: If you listen more to music, go with the M40. More HT, M22. Reasons: M40 will do better with music alone...
Dave: me too! i never watched ANY of the other "hospital dramas", so Scrubs _IS_ something new to me, not to mention it can pull off drama just as well as comedy (that episode where JD, the blonde girl and Tuck all become emotionally attached to three patients who all die at the end is a real...
the remote ALWAYS works with my AVR 320. as for the differences between the models, the 520 has re-assignable amps, i.e. you can physically switch cables in the back to make it use the internal front amps to power the back surrounds if you have an external amp for the front l+r.
