I'm thinking about getting this player. My Pioneer 1014 doesn't do HDMI (my TV does, thank goodness) so I was planning on using the optical out. Will I get surround sound or just PCM stereo? If I get surround, does anyone know if the Pioneer will create rear surround(7.1)? Thanks for any...
I finally got some time to really tweak the 880 tonight. I have a Pioneer 1014, and when I looked at the device menu, I saw a _lot_ of commands for features I didn't have, such as a PHONO input. After a while I realized it didn't matter a great deal, as I don't have to push that key. I am...
Based on Ron's review, I picked one up yesterday. I'm not at all disappointed - this is a great remote! Also, it appears Logitech has fixed the docking station problem, as my remote easily latches on to the power in the cradle.
I just picked up an 880. It didn't take long to fully charge, and the web setup had it running just like that. I've already modified its default setting to add the "stretch" control for the PVR (SA 8300HD) to the main activity window (else it was on page 4 of the PVR menu!) I'm sure I'll be...
One thing the MCACC does that's not covered by Avia is the individual speaker EQ, which covers five (I think) bands. The EQ will flatten out differences caused by room acoustics or speaker characteristics and that might account for the "hotter" result. JoeyR, I'm running JBLs with an SVS...
I returned my 34PW850H. It looked decent with HD or DVD signals, but SD looked awful! Some of its inputs were plagued by vertical bars, and the edge enhancement made people's teeth look like dice. And it was overscanning too much. (I used Avia for set up). At first I tried to get the store to...
It's mindboggling that manufacturers would display uncalibrated sets at professional trade shows. I'm still flipped out about how poorly the sets were set up at Best Buy, but that's (almost) understandable as they are not truly video professionals. Does anyone here actually own a Monivison...
Thanks Steve, Now I'm learning about DLP sets. Makes me want to hold off and save up some more! Seems like $3K is the point where the sets get interesting. Looked at the local Best Buy again and am confounded as to how all the sets are not set up optimally. One really needs the advice of...
It's getting to be time for me to think about a new TV to replace my venerable Toshiba 31 inch CRT. It seems that RPTVs have the best bang for the buck these days in terms of 16:9 HD compatible sets, but I'm curious as to their drawbacks. How frequently do projection lamps need replacement, and...
You owe it to your body to go SVS. They have a great return policy in the unlikely event you are dissatisfied. But if you like copious amounts of clean deep bass (when called for) and non-boomy music, You'll love whatever model you choose. (They'll even help you pick a model if you give them...
Check out the subwoofer stylings of Bass Mekanic! Loudest deepest bass music I could imagine. Oh yeah, Techmaster P.E.B. shakes the floor too! http://www.bassmekanik.com/ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=music
I too am fortunate in having a wife who loves our 20-39PC+. We had an ordinary box sub before the SVS which imparted an artificial heaviness to the bass. With the SVS the bass is far more natural - uncolored if you will. The bass is simply just there, as it was recorded, so she loves it because...
I replaced an older Mirage sub with an SVS 20-39PC+. The difference was beyond mindboggling. The Mirage was boomy, having a peak around 45HZ, but response fell off quickly below 40 Hz. The SVS goes right down to 20Hz without a bump, resulting in clean crisp tight music bass and intense powerful...
Boy, I can relate to you guys. I ordered my sub a bit before last Christmas. It's the gift that keeps on giving. No matter how often I watch a movie, the bass still makes me say "Wow!" SVS 20-39 PC+
I have small mains and an SVS 20-39PC+. Prior to the SVS I had a Mirage 12" 90 watt box sub, with which I had been happy. But when I got the SVS, it was a whole new world. Apparently the Mirage had been inducing a mid-bass peak that gave nice weight to the music, but oh boy what a difference...
When my old Denon Pro-Logic receiver gave up the ghost a while back, I needed a quick replacement and picked up an Onkyo 494. It has sounded wonderful and I have generally been happy with it. Then I got a new SVS 20-39PC+. Of course, I knew I had to calibrate, so I picked up Avia and the...
Craig, many folks may suggest inexpensive subs, but I just want to point out that my SVS 20-39PC+ goes wonderfully with my NSP-1s. Seamless match, and the deep bass is incredible. Don't sell the little JBLs short. They sound great with a great sub.
Donald, the SVS is extremely musical. It blends right in with my JBL NSP-1 mains system and doesn't call attention to itself. It just produces tight accurate bass. If, however, there is deep bass recorded on what you are listening to, you will feel it/hear it in all its glory. I just got...
Hi, may I butt in here to ask a relevant question? I have a set of NSP-1's, and I really like them. But my venerable Mirage 12" 90 watt box sub is letting me down, as it falls off below 35 Hz. I've decided on SVS as a replacement. What do you folks think - will a 20-39 PCi fit the bill, or...
