Duane, that should be an excellent speaker to use in a sealed enclosure and twice as good if you did a linkwitz transform on it. I am currently running 3 of the audiobahn alum12s in my house in linkwitz transform and am very pleased with the results.
David F., I just did a quick search on your DVD player, the sony C600D. I could not find any site that stated it had 5.1 analog outputs. I am guessing that like most people you utilize the digital out for it's better performance because it is digital. Now you are also claiming that the ouput...
Changing a powercord will not improve the sound or the image. If it does your suffering from the placebo effect. But adding a filter can change the way things behave. Just a powercord alone will not make any difference. And there is no need to ever burn in a powercord, speaker wire, or...
David, I forgot to mention this in my first post, very nice work. I wish all of the stuff that I built came out looking that good. Even if I don't believ the powercord improves the sound/image, it still looks pretty cool :)
No offense taken Jay C, it's all good
I was merely talking about the power cord, not his other mods. The other mods could be very good. I don't know if they are or not because I have never tried them. I only brought up the powercord thing because it's simple physics. Now adding a filtered socket to the chasis could give a...
Dont forget to upgrade all of the wiring in your house, that stuff is pretty shabby by hi-fi standards. And while your at it, get the powercompany to replace all of their power lines to your house as well because they are low grade too. :)
I hate to come off sounding like such a jerk, but the...
Jeff, I have two crowns, a ce1000 and a ce2000. Before I built a unbalanced to balanced converter which also basically works as a line driver due to the nature of the device, I had sensitivity problems as well. The solution is to use the .775 volt settings on the amp. You have to open up the...
I'll throw in another vote for sealed as well. I am a huge fan of the linkwitz transform and would love to have a monster pe and xmax to create the uber linkwitz transformed sub. A sub that in a 5 ft^3 box that has a f3 of 10hz after the transform would be insane.
looks pretty good, If it were me though, I would flip the center channel so that it was upright and imaged correctly, especially since it is so small anyways. Doing that usually make the front sound stage on movies much more fluid.
On the sub... I would hate to be your neighbor ;)
sure James, you can e-mail me. I like to help people out when ever I can. I don't have a complete understanding of electronics, but I do have the basics down and can read almost any schematic and build from that schematic. I will be gone for 5 days starting tomorrow so I will not be able to...
I've actually thought about building the LT's to order before. If I were to start making circuit boards to make it easier, then I actually could build them to order very quickly. If you haven't heard a linkwitz transformed setup yet, you just have to. You never knew that sealed subs could go...

The web page was just something I threw together real quick just to get the pics up. I still need to make a real page.
I just did some measurements. It took about 5 mins of bass music to get the fan up to full speed. Checking with my re-calibrated radioshack meeter I was hitting 110 dB in room on the peaks :) I then killed the CD and measured the fan noise at the front of the amp with the mike 1" from the...
I can help you out in this department. I own a CE2000 and use it to push my subs. The fan can get a little noisey, but it is not enough to bother me. The only time that I will really even notice it when whatching a movies is when you go from a really loud bassy scene to a really quite one. I...
I use a crown CE2000 in my linkwitz transform design. The only complaint I have with the amp is that the fan can get a little loud. It is not enough to bug me though, because I am usually not able to hear it over the movie I am watching. If you look around on the net you can find the CE1000...
Thanks guys, this AC stuff is getting easier the more I am looking at it. It's not that tuff and it proves that there really is a real world use for triginomitry.
Peter, you don't know how good it is to hear you say that there is no such thing as RMS power. I have had this argument several times with people. A watt is a watt is a watt. But what figures you use to get those watts can vary. But RMS Watts are a convenient way of saying that the...
Ok, I think I have the explination, I found it on crowns website. It's the formula on how they got their measurements.
Watts used = (total output with all channels driven X duty cycle) / amplifier effeciency.
The CE2000 is rated at 65% effecient. The amp can put out 1950 Watts into a 4...
Andrew, you can not freely convert from DC to AC when you at talking about a reactive load such as a amplifier that is using a transformer to supply it power. If I did, this is what I would get for my amp asuming DC.
R= .3 Ohms, I measured the resistance between the plug terminals.
V= 120V...
hey pete, your absolutely right, it can't make more power than it recives. I looked on crowns site and found that the draw is different depending on source (16A on pink noise) and there is a note that says it could be higher on actual material.
Not to be a smart ass but..... your...
Get the crown CE 2000, you won't regret it. I have a CE 1000 just laying around right now (I might sell it), because I found a smoking deal for a ce 2000, I got mine for 400 dollars because the store screwed up on the pricing, and their computer system was down so they wrote me up manually...
No, I don't have any photo's yet. I have to have a friend come over and take some pics of my setup. But right now I am stuck in a lousey budget sweets until my wife and I can move into our house at the end of this month. Then I will be sure to get some pics, as well as in room measurements...
I found this forum a while ago, but I just registered and thought that I would say hi to everyone. I see a lot of discussions on this board about the Linkwitz Transform, I myself run a LT'd trio of audiobahn alum12's.
