Keith, I'd be very interested in that.

    Multidisk universal player

I've been waiting for a multidisk universal player, too. It's strange how long it's taken for them to be announced. Give me something like the Sony 555 but with DVD-A, too, and I'm buying it.

    Anybody annouce a universal (SACD/DVD-A) 5-disc Changer?

Thanks, Keith. It takes so long with new technologies sometimes, before you get all the features you're looking for. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to be patient a little bit (or a lot) longer!

    Anybody annouce a universal (SACD/DVD-A) 5-disc Changer?

Want a universal player, but love to load up several discs and just sit back and listen. Something like the Sony 555ES changer, but with DVD-A too would be nice. Am I dreaming?

Does the JVC XV-FA95GD do DVD-Audio?

I bought it for about $300, and it was a good player for that price. The $149 at JandR is a steal.

Does the JVC XV-FA95GD do DVD-Audio?

Yes it does DVD-Audio. It's a decent player and it does hold 7 discs and have progressive scan, and it's got a very good price. I've only had it a few months, but no problems so far.

Pioneer Introduces The DV-47Ai and DV-45A

Bob, I have the $30 Radio Shack solution, and it does work well, but keep in mind you need to buy 18 cables to make the thing work (as opposed to 6 on the universal player.) The cables alone can easily add up to $200 more (not to mention way, way more than that depending on the cables!) I'm not...

Upsampler Advice: Bel Canto DAC 1or2 or Perpetual Technologies P1a?

Thank you everyone for all your feedback, and thank you Pereptual Technologies for chiming in here too. I appreciate all the comments. I've found both a Perpetual P1a and a Bel Canto DAC1 on the web used for less than $600 each. I keep reading great reviews for each, but I won't be able to try...

Upsampler Advice: Bel Canto DAC 1or2 or Perpetual Technologies P1a?

Now, doesn't the P1a have serious jitter control? From their brochure: ________ "Re-clock the input signal to remove jitter and other digital artifacts that harm imaging, stage width, and harmonic signal integrity. (Included in the base model)" ________ couldn't this make a big difference?

Upsampler Advice: Bel Canto DAC 1or2 or Perpetual Technologies P1a?

Thanks, Jeff, Phil and Keith. I really appreciate your comments. The CD player is a Sony CDP-CX350, which I know is nothing too special. The SACD player is the Sony SCD-CE775, which I'm considering get mods done to further down the line. The advantage of getting an upsampler to the megachanger...

Upsampler Advice: Bel Canto DAC 1or2 or Perpetual Technologies P1a?

I'm considering an upsampler between my Sony CD multichanger and Outlaw 950 preamp. I've gotten spoiled by the sound of SACDs and DVD/As, but have a lot of CDs. I'd love to be able to get a slightly less harsh, smoother sound and less listening fatigue from my current CDs. I've heard great...

How come no one ever discusses Bryston on this board?

I bought an old Bryston 3b (the 20 year transferable wararnty made it easy) and a matching preamp, and am running a pair of Klipsch Cornwall speakers. Heaven.

***Official*** Outlaw 950 Review thread - Owners: As you get it, share your thoughts

It takes about 6 seconds for the sound to lock in every time I change the channel on DirecTV, after a couple of seconds it takes DirectTV to get picture. Definitely my least favorite thing about the 950 (there certainly are a lot of great things about it, but this is aggravating to me). And...

    Thinking of getting out

Brandon, How do you feel when you listen to the old Klipsch speakers you have? Some of that old Klipsch stuff is superior, in my opinion, to a lot stuff out now. In that respect, newer doesn't necessarily translate into better. Sit down with the Klipsch, forget about money and features and...

JVC progressive scan dvd blues...please advise.

A local Best Buy has been clearing out the 75GD now for $154. If you decide to stick with JVC, this is a pretty good deal if you can get it where you are.

    Naim AV2 processor

Richard, I love Naim. I have some of their older amps/integrated amps (NAP 140, Nait 2). Unfortunately, they're not hooked up to other Naim equipment, as I hear they are even better this way. But I love their sound. They make some amazing amps. It's hard to believe the tiny 30-watt per...

    Anyone using Sony DVP NC650V?

Joe, One of the Best Buys near me has dropped the price on this unit from $329 to $249, which I think is an amazing price on this unit. So far, that's the best price I've seen.

    J&R SACD & DVD-Audio Player Sale

Bill, One of the Best Buys near me now has the JVC 95GD (7-disc DVD/DVD-A) player for $279, and the Sony 650 (5-disc DVD/SACD) for $249. Very big price drops (or sale prices - it's hard to tell which). But then they just raised their price on the Sony 775 (5-disc SACD) which they just dropped...

Oh My God !! Real Music

Doug, I hate the 18 cable thing, too (and 18 good quality cables at that), in addition to all the problems of being a consumer stuck in the middle of a format war. I think most people would like universal players, and at a variety of price points. However, the first reasonably priced one, the...

Oh My God !! Real Music

Jack, I was impressed with many of the DTS surround mixes, but to me, the overall sound quality on many discs wasn't as great or as smooth as I'd hoped. When I got a DVD-Audio player, I was really surprised at how much better it sounded to me. I agree with Keith. If you like the DTS tracks...

Oh My God !! Real Music

Keith, It's possible Best Buy has a plan, it's just hard to tell. I'm really enjoying my 775 (even my CDs sound better). That's an amazing deal for the price. If I can budget a 555 before they run out, I'll do it, though. Where is the 555 $479? Or was that part of a package price for...

Oh My God !! Real Music

There are about 5 Best Buys within half an hour of me, and they're not as in sync with each other as you'd expect. Price changes rarely seem to happen in all stores at once. It usually seems to take a few to several days, so I often call several different stores first, to see who's hooked into...

Oh My God !! Real Music

My local Best Buy just dropped their price from I think $339 to $179 early last week. The day before they did this, they defended their price and had no idea what their competitors were selling for. It was well after Good Guys went to $250 and Circuit City to $199 when the this Best Buys changed...

Oh My God !! Real Music

David, some Best Buys have dropped the price on the Sony SCD-775 to $179. I got myself an open box for $149 - it was in great condition and even happened to come bundled with 5 SACDs in the box - it was a steal! (salesman said the SACDs were part of some early Sony promotion - didn't think they...
