Yes, the non-HDTV Wegas have a 16:9 mode. But keep in mind what Joseph said about his non-HDTV Wega making cable look
worse.
I believe the Panasonics have this mode in the service menu, which would be a bit of a hassle to access every time you played a dvd.
The Toshiba's also have it in...
Hi Jonathan.
Strictly a personal opinion, but I have to say that I don't understand purchasing a television as advanced and expensive as the XBR 450 if you only watch dvds ten percent of the time and cable is your broadcast source. From what I've seen, the Sony Wegas make cable reception look...
Thanks Michael. One question though. How do you determine if the setting is correct? Does Avia or Video Essentials have any anamorphic test patterns?
Also, I assume that as long I note the original settings there is no chance of permanently screwing up the picture. Is that correct?
Do any of the people on this forum have direct view televisions? 100 views and not a single reply makes me wonder if I should look for another forum.
Also, isn't this forum devoted to non HDTV televisions? At least half of the monitors asked about here are HD.
I'm looking at buying either a 32A41 or 32A61. I've heard it is possible to create a 16:9 mode in the service menu, using
the HIT adjustment. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know the correct setting? I think these tv's are very good values, but I was leaning towards a 27 inch Sony Wega in...
Has anyone attempted to paint a Sony Wega tv? What kind of paint/ application would you use? Would the warranty be voided? Black is the color I'm thinking of, of course.
You are probably going to run into the same problem I did regarding tv width. My cabinet won't hold any thing wider than 27 1/4 in. ALL of the flat screen tv's are wider than this. The only thing that was even close was the entry level Wega at 27 5/8 in. I decided to get rid of my cabinet and...
I'm trying to decide betwqeen it and the Sony27FS13. The Samsung has the 16:9 feature and it is selectable without going into the menu. The sound is very good for a 27in. tv, much better than the Sony. Also, I much prefer the Samsung color(black) and sleeker shape. Finally, the Samsung is fifty...
Could someone please direct me to any DIY monitor calibration sites? I'm especially interested in service menu adjustments(geomertry, etc.) Someone mentioned "Brett's site" in a post but with no link.
If I ask for it, I can get a cable box from ATT Broadband that has S-Video output. This is one of the Motorola digital converters. Would this be the same improvement you get from using s-video with DBS?
