Denon AVR-3802 - Lost sound in left channels

Update: Very strange. Only channel 2 (CBS) is affected. All of the other channels are stereo. I guess that means the problem isn't at my end.

Denon AVR-3802 - Lost sound in left channels

I came home this evening to a surround sound missing sound from the front left, rear left, and sub. They are silent. I ran the test tone on the receiver and all five sound fine. Even more strange, I played a CD, and all five sound fine. So, it seems I am missing the left channels when...

Need help putting re-building old Infinity speakers

Great resource. Hmmm... when new only $146/pair. 50W max. They are barely worth the $29 repair kit (but I am so cheap, I will do it anyway). Thanks!

Need help putting re-building old Infinity speakers

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know you could do that! My speakers are about 4", so I think I will buy the kit ($29) and do it myself (the mail-in company wants $22 - but shipping will eat up another $10). Thanks for the help!

Need help putting re-building old Infinity speakers

My dad gave me a pair of old Infinity RS1000's. I want to put new speakers in them since the original cones have completely rotted out (the foam surrounds are gone). The tweeters look OK, so I am just going to replace the one rotted speaker on each. How do I find out what the crossover is set...

    What is "RGB plus H&V"?

That makes sense. It sounds like when I do get a HDTV decoder for the TV (down the road), I should look for one with the "H&V" outputs because my TV can support it. I appreciate the answer.

    What is "RGB plus H&V"?

I'm hooking up my XBox to my Mitsubishi WT-46809 (HDTV-ready 16:9). I bought the XBox HDTV adapter and am running component video from the XBox into the TV. On the back of the TV, I have "Component Inputs" with "YPrPb". They are marked 480i/480p. I also have inputs for "DTV" with...

How do I cool my Denon?

I've had my 3801 for about two months. It sits open on all sides while I wait for my cabinet to be built. It runs perfectly cool, even after many hours of TV, or a couple hours of a loud DVD. This leads me to believe that you are preventing the air from circulating through the vents. The...

Black bars on Toshiba widescreen TV?

I just purchased a 16:9 Mitsubishi HDTV-ready set and have experienced the same thing. Bottom line, get used to it. I've rented several DVD's, and some are full screen (16:9), and some have black bars. Until everyone uses the exact same format (unlikely) we have to put up with it. The one...

Having problems with my Panasonic RP56

Doug, Just knowing my RP56 has the "Faroudja/Sage DCDi progressive scan chip" makes me want to hang on to it. I wonder if Panasonic is replacing the unit with another without the chip to save money? Thanks for the info. - Mike

Having problems with my Panasonic RP56

This is strange, just like Bill reported above, my RP56 has decided to "calm down" too. I watched "Das Boot" and the unit didn't vibrate at all...so I threw some other DVD's in (yes, after taking out Das Boot) and they didn't vibrate either. Funny, maybe there is a break-in period. All...

Having problems with my Panasonic RP56

The unit is new (last week). It operates perfectly, but makes a low-pitch hum while running (you can hear it across the room). On closer inspection, I found the unit is vibrating (as if the CD/DVD is out of balance). This happens with every CD/DVD that I try, so the shaft/motor must be loose...

Question re DVD viewing on 16:9 HDTV-ready set

Wow! Scary. When the "experts" came to deliver and do their complimentary "in-home set-up" of my HDTV, they set the CONTRAST to full! They also had the SATURATION cranked to nearly full. I quickly turned both down that evening when the screen was hurting my eyes. Which is better for me...

Question re DVD viewing on 16:9 HDTV-ready set

Thanks for the replies. About the "burn-in" issues with the screens... Is this only something that happens with rear-projection TV's, or is this something I had to worry about (and didn't) on my previous 35" Sony Trinitron TV (tube)? I have "contrast", "brightness", and "tint" controls...

Question re DVD viewing on 16:9 HDTV-ready set

I just purchased a 46" Mitsubishi WT-46809 HDTV-ready 16:9 television. I also picked up a new Panasonic DVD-RP56 Progressive Scan DVD player. My question: When I watch movies, I was under the assumption (incorrectly?) that the 16:9 format would allow me to watch "letterbox" movies without...

Need help with my Denon 3802

Another update... I hooked-up the speakers to the "multi" output, and still nothing. I read the manual cover to cover and then the light came on... I had the volume on the "multi" to OFF. Doh! Fixed that. Works as advertised. Pretty cool feature of the 3802! Thanks guys. - Mike

Need help with my Denon 3802

Luke and Chris, Thanks a ton. I'll work on it in the morning. I am brand-new to this Home Theater stuff, and I am still amazed/confused by it all. My new equipment, compared to the stuff it replaces, is light-years more advanced. Thanks again.

Need help with my Denon 3802

Assuming I do that, is there any way to just get sound out of the Dining Room, or do I also have to listen to music in the Family Room? I was told, when I bought the unit, that I could have radio in one room, and surround in another - all from the Denon 3802. Was I duped?

Need help with my Denon 3802

First time posting...looking forward to becoming a regular. My question: I've got a brand-new Denon 3802 with five speakers in the family room. I also have two speakers in the living room. With the 7-channel Denon, I am attempting to have surround sound in the family room, and stereo in...
