They're saying fall, so probably October-November. In an interview Soderbergh confirmed the Criterion release and said there will be mountains of extras, including lots of deleted scenes and documentaries.
I still don't understand why WB stopped with the Golden Collections. I thought those were the absolute pinnacle of classic animation on DVD, alongside the Disney Treasures.
Sounds very awesome. Screwball comedy hasn't been very well released, apart from maybe Warner's Classic Comedies set from a few years ago (with Bringing Up Baby etc.).
This would be very cool. I hope they do go ahead with this. Currently the transfers are pretty washed out and lack definition. If they could do a true HD restoration from the original film elements... wow!

I'm in for every season. I'm sure these sets will be as good as the ILL sets, and so we don't have to worry about later seasons not having extras. There will always be promos and things to put on there. Also, I'll be getting the upcoming Here's Lucy sets, have you guys heard that news (Here's...
Thanks for letting us know, David! I found this doc's official site: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/cinemasexiles/ It looks fascinating. Unfortunately, looks like it won't be airing on my local PBS station (Thirteen) in the next two weeks. Too bad, but hopefully they'll repeat it soon.
Right, forgot about those, but I've had all four of them on preorder for a while now, to go along with the other singles from that unfortunate set. By the way, Sabotage will be shown on MGM-HD this month: on the 15th at 6 is the premiere.
It'd be great if we could turn this thread into a sort of an all-purpose 1930s DVD thread, where we could post news of upcoming releases and discuss things. For instance, apart from Forbidden Hollywood Volume 3 what other 1930s DVDs are coming soon?
I will have to go over this thread and see what's already in my collection. I got a $40 Best Buy card and I'm thinking of picking up a boxset. I have the first Warner Gangsters set, and I'm thinking of getting Vol. 3. Or maybe something else, depending on what I see on the shelves.
