If you look to the cumulative spectral delay plot of the s38 you can see that this speaker is not well braced. You can see that it has a strong ressonance mode at 385hz, more at 250hz, which can most certanly degrade the sound. Just for kicks, look at the same graph from this dynaudio...
Well, the fantastic for one is the bright/metallic for others. ;), never heard this jmlab, but I'm yet to hear a metal tweeter that is so natural as the dynauido Esotar. Anyway, this is like discusting your favorite color, no right answer.
Well, from my experience, I'd go with a soft dome for natural sound, and the best I ever heard was the dynaudio esotar2 tweeter. Dynaudio speakers are the few that can reproduce the true sound of a cymbal (I play bass in a rock band, and IMHO, I know how a real cymbal sounds like :D )
I have a HCA1000A in a cabinet with open front and back, and about 25cm of clearance on top. The amp get as hot as to almost burn your hand on contact, therefore a fan is mandatory. Besides that, it's a great sounding unit, and I'm driving Dynaudios 4ohms speakers with it. :emoji_thumbsup:
I have a pair of 42 and a 42C. I was using a Pioneer elite, sound was OK, but not impressive. The dyn low impendance and sensitivity can make almost all receivers beg for mercy :D Now I´m using a Parasound HCA1000A and a Rotel 1070. Both can put around 200W in 4 ohms, and they REALLy improved...
I wouldn't buy B&W. I heard extensivelly the 600s, CDM and Nautilus (I have friends who have those) and I can´t stand their sound, manly the tweeter:thumbsdown: Wouldn't buy JBL either, I'm getting rid of mine Studios and never been happier :D
I have a friend that has a 4802 powering a pair of B&W cdm7nt. I hooked up mine parasound HCA1000a (125 w) to his receiver, just to see if there is some noticiable difference. After around 30s of listening, my friend was cursing the Denons amps and getting ready to add a 2 channel amp to his...
The video is OK, 4x3. The audio is terrible, dolby 2.0, that is effectively stereo, but worse and it is extremely low. If you are a fan (as I am) it is a must buy despite its technical shortcomings
I actually heard a ps1200 some time ago. I have a SVS 20-39CS+. The ps is a nice sub and all, but: No punch int the ring drop on LOTR or on the sock explosion from Monsters Inc. (the svs seems to kick you in the face). Absent bass on the toy story 2 intro and no impact on the jet explosions...
Well, this was a amusing thread. I heard 2 Yamahas subs: A YSTW 160 and a 320. The 160 can´t be called a sub, it´s more like a "bass module" (it bottomed out around 40hz in a frequency sweep), the 320 is better, but it would take a half dozen of those to come near a SVS CS+. I measured around...
I see the pattern that happens down here: If a DVD from Warner's and Columbia is released in both full and wide in the USA, it´ll be released in full here, if it´s only released in wide in the USA, then it´ll be released in wide here. Spider man, Harry potter 1, XXX, and many more are...
Derek, they are conventional stands. They have 4 holes on each extremity, where I attached a wood board the size of the s38, using some headless screws. It works pretty well.
I had this amp for a while. You may be confounding crossover with subsonic filter. To disable the crossover, set it to the highest position. This way you will use the receiver’s crossover. The subsonic filter is a high-pass crossover, used mainly to protect the speaker from ultra-low...
As a former owner of a Velodyne cht-10, I can guarantee that the velo is not even near of the SVS. This subs can´t be compared, it's a blow out. The SVS is much cleaner and much louder than the Velo.;)
Sorry dude, but unless you get a SVS B4 you´re out of luck. Even that one should not satisfy you. I have a fosgate sub in my car, and I can guarantee that it sounds 10 times crappier than my SVS. It sure can play loud and make 60hz booms but this sub is a distortion machine. I have it waaay...
