Thanks Campell. Right now, I have optical audio connecting the Sat box to the receiver and Coax audio from DVD/VCR box to receiver. works pretty good. The remaining thing is to get a couple of RF to RCA adapter to use the existing in wall RG as video only transport (rather than RF). In the...
Hi Robert, thanks for the tips, exactly the kind of information that I am looking for. It sounds like my best bet is just to run a sub cable (rather not go through the wall, but in this case, it's probably worth it). The A7-900 is very nice, but over kill for what I have (the Onkyo 5.1 is a $95...
Hi folks, I am a long time member of the forum, but I've been pretty much in the "software (read: movies DVDs, ..)" side of things, so this is really the first time I venture into the hardware area.. I moved into this house over a couple years ago and it had been prewired (more about that...
LOA is one of my all time favorite films, that said, I always think it's a silly game to rank films. It's totally fine to have a "50 greatest", but ranking 1,2 3... is just not my cup of tea. Don't know what exactly the criteria for "epic" is, but am surprised that film such as Cleopetra...
Agree with Julie. I also think that most of the original cast (Shatner in particular) have done various self parodies (some better than others) on talk shows, shows such as SNL, guests on sitcoms, etc that I just don't think putting them together on a movie would work (kind of feels like Burt's...
It's been a while, but as I recall, The Bedford Incident is a pretty good cold war sub flick (with Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier), but I don't think it's on DVD.
>>I saw it on HBO last month and that's what propted me to start looking for it. The version on HBO didn't look as blurry as the dvd but that may not mean much.
I like the movie a lot, and was surprised that it did not do better at the box office (a short run in the local theaters), a sweet "holiday mood" movie and as I recall, got some pretty good reviews.
I've been a Netflix customer off and on pretty much since they started the business a number of years ago. I've been through all kinds of promotions and plan changes, and just recently (2 months ago) "re-sign" up after about a 9 months absence. In the SF Bay, my turn around has NEVER been more...
Nick, I had a coax to optical out converter that I used on my Tos SD 2109. Back a few years ago, it was $30 (the 2109 was $199). I sold the gadget on EBay after I brought other players that have Op out, I think I got $15 for it. Don't know what they go for these days, but anything more than a...
Thanks for the tip, I got another tip that the 3950 is on sale at Amazon for $69.95 with a $20 rebate, so it's net $49.95, no tax or shipping. After reading the reviews, I decided against it, because it has no optical out (apparently the spec by both Toshiba and Amazon were incorrect).
Somebody local is advertising a Tos SD3950 for $78, supposedly only used a couple of times with all original accessory, doc and box. Don't know anything about the model, just want to know if aybody has experience with it and whether its a good deal. BTW, one of my DVD players is my 1st gen Tos...
Have subtitle problem on my Cyberhome CH500, simply cannot turn them of, I can have either English or French, if I turn subtitle off, they come back on after may be a minute. Nothing I do can fix it.
Thanks Walt, and Peter, you are right, it's probably right up there as one of the most half remembered movies. As soon as I read the description (just first line), I knew I've seen it but also know that it wasn't any good (IMO) and there's no way I can remember the name or when/where I've seen it.;)
Topkapi.. That said, "everything is going to plan" per se does not bother me, as long as the execution is good. There have been some great Law and Order, CSI, X-Files,.. espisodes that I KNOW everything will be resolved in 60 minutes (minus commercial), but I still think they are great...
