I received the Sony MOD dvd of "Drive-In" this past week from Amazon. I'd love to report about the quality of the transfer and whatnot, but what was burned onto the disc was not "Drive-In" but something called "A Close Call for Boston Blackie" from 1946. I've since returned it to Amazon and...
That's a shame about Midnight Cowboy's transfer. I watched it recently on an HBO HD channel and that transfer was virtually flawless. I wish now I'd kept it instead of deleting it after finding out about the impending BD release.
And according to The Digital Bits, "Midnight Cowboy" and--finally!!--the original "Taking of Pelham One Two Three" will hit Best Buy exclusively starting tomorrow (May 29), $14.99. Didn't see those coming...
"Bound For Glory". Watched this recently on some HD channel, and thought this would look fantastic on Blu. With every other 1976 Best Picture winner or nominee getting new Blu treatments this year ("Network", "All the President's Men", "Taxi Driver", and--I think--"Rocky"), this one's long...
Well, there is that Canadian DVD to be released on June 9 mentioned several posts ago that may or may not be anamorphic; it would be great to find out if it is.
Saw this interesting link on the original "Pelham's" IMDB site: Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3, The Repackaged DVD: Martin Balsam, Hector Elizondo, Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw Anyone know anything about this DVD re-release, especially whether or not it's anamorphic? Amazon.com doesn't list it on...
Just a heads-up: there are at least two Borders stores in the Atlanta area I checked out yesterday who have already completely pulled their remaining stock of clearance DVD's, BD's, and CD's. Other stores in other markets may be doing the same thing, so call ahead to your local Borders before...
Ron, You may want to wait just a few more months for "John Adams" to come out on Blu-Ray; at least according to The Digital Bits' Rumor Mill: The Digital Bits Rumor Mill - Current Posts
Thanks, guys. I ended up breaking down and buying it. The price was just too good to pass up, especially since I already had the cash and gift card to get it at that price. And would owning it on Blu be worth the extra $200-300 it will probably cost? Probably not; especially with what TommyJD...
I have recently updated to Blu Ray, getting the Sony S350 shortly before Christmas. I have since found myself, like many others who have made the jump to Blu, rethinking future disc purchases (and already upgrading a few SD titles). Which brings me to the "Sopranos" complete series box. I've...
Has Borders recently stopped sending their discount coupons in their weekly Borders Rewards e-mailings? I haven't had one in mine in about three weeks. Also, has anyone come across a Borders coupon for this Labor Day weekend?
Apparently, then, mine simply didn't come with the offer. I looked behind the press book and everywhere else, and no go....so I guess it's back to Sam's for an exchange. Thanks for the info, guys!
Yes; it clearly states on the back of the box that there's a "mail-in offer for a free poster"...except that in the case of the boxed set I picked up at Sam's Club, it doesn't seem to be in there.
Just picked up the new UE of "Bonnie and Clyde" at Sam's today and searched high and low for the free poster offer form, but couldn't find it. Can anyone tell me where they found theirs?
That's actually very strange, because when the review was first posted and I think even as late as this morning, the reviewer did specify that the transfer was indeed anamorphic, and I was just about ready to pick up a copy. Now, however, the "anamorphic" reference in the review has been...
That would be a shame if true. This movie deserves far better treatment. Doing a more extensive search online, I came up with this site that lists all of the previous DVD releases of FBB (except the new MGM release): http://fabulousbakers.tripod.com/ab/.../DVDspecs.html According to this...
I've been eyeing the new MGM DVD of "The Fabulous Baker Boys", but on the back is simply says it's "Widescreen 1.85", with no mention of being anamorphic or "16x9 Enhanced". Can anyone tell me whether or not it is anamorphic before I buy it? I've searched other threads on this forum but couldn't...
The proof-of-purchase tab can be found on the paper blurb that's loosely stuck onto the back of the box, describing the box's contents. At least that's what I used.
More kudos to Warner Bros. for what may end up being the DVD box set of the year. And an offer inside the box to get not just one but FOUR free Astaire-Rogers reproduction movie posters?? Outstanding.
I wonder if this is a sign of a future--and better--DVD re-release: http://www.moviecentre.net/upcomingm...e_id_1799.htm# It's playing, or has played, at the Film Forum in NYC with a new, uncut print. Fingers crossed for a DVD re-release in the near future....
