I've decided to sell my beloved Panasonic PT-53TW53 53" 16:9 HDTV. It's a CRT RPTV that arguably still gives the best picture possible. It's simply too big for my current townhouse. Asking $1250 OBO. Pick up in Durham, NC. It's less than a year old, still under warranty and in perfect...
Maybe a long shot, but here goes... I'm moving to a new place and will have a bit less space for my home theater. My Monitor 9's are unshielded and was hoping to trade them for a set of *shielded* Monitor 7's. You would of course gain the ability to play some lower frequencies as well as...
I don't think that older Onkyo has ANY advantage over a Denon 1603. Power is about the same, but the Denon has all the new processing formats. The Onkyo MIGHT have more s-video inputs (don't know off the top of my head) but that really should be about it. definitely Denon if they're the same...
Robert - hmmm that's odd. maybe in need to check it again...actually i think the sub was off just a tiny bit like 1-2db or so, but not too much of a surprise there considering how much the sub reading jumps around with either set of tones.
considering how hot the power supply gets when it's auto "off", it may really be on all the time, but in effect mutingthe output....maybe even how its able to turn on so quickly
are you doing 6.1 by chance? i feel like if your in matrixed 6.1 and your running test tones from the dvd, when the effectively prologic deocding is applied to the rears (since that's all matrix 6.1 is), i feel like less sound is going to each speaker (like DPL back in the day). but then...
depends which dvd player you have, how good its deocder is, and what other features you may gain with a new receiver. if its JUST for the decoder and you're dvd player has good bass management already, then i don't think you'll gain much at all. now if you end up with more power, prologic2...
you won't be able to assign that one optical input on the denon to multiple video inputs however, so if you get a switcher, get one that switches video as well...i believe radioshack sells one of those as well (assuming you're currently using the receiver to handle video switching)
you can use both optical inputs, but they need to be assigned to different inputs (ie one to DVD and one to VCR1) and you select which you're using by choosing DVD or VCR1. this is how all denon's work and all receivers that allow you to assign inputs
you have to assign them to two different inputs...you can't have two jacks on one input or one jack on two inputs...it wouldn't make any sense maybe if you explain to us better what exactly you're trying to do, we could help more
i'm having this exact problem on my rp62 that i bought used...it should be in the 1 year warranty period since the manufacture date is july 2002. i wonder if we can get panasonic to give us the parts under warranty and let us do the labor ourselves? if not, let's see if we can figure out...
i'm fairly certain the Akai does not use the same tube as the widescreen HD samsungs. if it did, chances are that a service menu would be able to turn on the HD option, just like with the samsung EDTV's. Further, there's a reason all HDTV's upconvert 480i to 480p - i don't think any of them are...
allan - remember that when you're using component connections, the signal is analog, even if it is 480p. thus both 480i and 480p signals will have to undergo A/D conversion if the scaler needs a digital signal to scale. and of course the advantage of a progressive scan DVD player is that it...
the HD tube is the expensive part and that's obviously not included in the analog tv. first of all, it's not an interlaced display. second, SDTV analog TV's are fixed frequency, where as the HDTV has got to be able to scan at various frequencies for different ATSC HDTV modes (ie 480p vs 1080i in...
ok so it sounds like i haven't missed anything obvious that might be different about these two. the preouts don't seem like a big deal to me because I think by the time i can buy a separate amp, i'll probably want true separates anyway. the OSD is similarly not such a big deal IMHO - ease of...
With last year's models being cleared out, I can get the Denon AVR-2802 for about $80 more than the newer AVR-1803. The specs overall seem pretty similar. Here are the differences I see: The 2802 has the additional advantage of preouts, a bit more power (90 vs 80W), and on screen display. The...
the high pass is only for the speaker level pass through. the low pass is what will go to the amplifier in the plate amp and from there to your subs. since that plate amp has no way to disable the low pass crossover, you're probably already using it. So it seems odd that you're getting such high...
they're the same amp actually. adire has just customized the bass boost/rumble filter. i believe the settings adire uses have been posted in the past, which would allow you to customize the bass boost/rumble filter the exact same way.
you beat me to it! i just finished a flexy tv-stand today that i'll be posting pics of in the next day or two. i must say though, nice job! i like the covered threads. I decided not to go that route on mine for a few reasons - 1. too busy with other things 2. too lazy 3. not sure exactly what...
well, don't forget that the HSU's have some EQ applied to them, so they can get away with being smaller. the same prinicple is used in linkwitz (sp?) transforum subs that people have built here, allowing for extremely small sealed subs to be flat down to 20Hz. the disadvantage is that a driver...
