Well, now I feel bad about buying the soundtrack album on iTunes just prior to the theatrical release. If I had known a deluxe edition was coming, I would've happily waited. Still, the current album has been getting a lot of play on both my iPod and iPhone.Still, very much looking forward to the...
The deleted material is of the most interest to me here. There were a number of snippets that didn't make the final film that made it into the trailer (Most of the material involving the doctor was removed, probably because test audiences couldn't handle all of the bloodshed), and also the...
Believe it or not, Stay Tuned was released on DVD way back in May of 2000. While it looks to have gone out of print, there is a pretty big influx of used copies throughout the internet that can be had for less than $10. I don't believe a Blu-Ray is in the works, but at least on DVD, the film is...
I have it, and it is extraordinary. You'll want to retire the Ryko disc or the other reissue from a few years ago for this (Save for the dialogue bits from the Ryko release, which you can save in your iTunes library). Just to have the score as heard in the film in some form is a miracle onto...
So I watched the extended edition as soon as I bought the set, and lo and behold, it was nothing short of amazing. Even though I watched it on my small 32" HDTV, I still felt like I was in the Cinerama Dome on opening night seeing this version. In terms of the added footage, a lot of it was in...
Well, the review is nearly finished on DVD Beaver. The images haven't been uploaded yet, but there are new comments presented regarding the Criterion edition. Anyone interested in giving it a read can follow the link below, although I wouldn't blame you guys if you wanted to wait for the images...
I'll add one in: BUGSY MALONE.I don't know if this is part of Warner Bros./Paramount's pact, but this is one I would buy in an instant. I saw it on CINEMOI less than a month before DirectTV kicked it off their airwaves, and it looked like a new HD master (I even managed to DVR it exactly two...
The answer to that question is simple: If you want the theatrical version and the Wake Up Ron Burgandy film in addition to the Unrated cut, you'll want this set. The other BD was just the Unrated cut. I've had this set since it was issued as a Best Buy Exclusive three years ago and I can tell...
What a great announcement to come home to!It has been a 10 year wait, but the wait was finally all worth it. This is the easiest Day One purchase I've had in quite a while!I look forward to seeing the 197-minute reconstruction, but I also look forward to delving into this treasure trove of...
I've been watching this thread from the sidelines, and I've loved all the bickering and the hints. It's been like watching a living sequel of the movie come to life. At the same time, this has been a long time coming, and since I'm kind of on the stage of being broke, I am more than happy to be...
I'll actually be out of town in California during the turn-over, and since I'll have very little access to the Internet, I'll be spending my free time with family and friends that I wish I saw more of. It'll be a nice change of pace. I return from my vacation on the 18th, but I look forward to...
Ladies and gentlemen, we have an announcement. Streets November 20th!
The Criterion Collection - Heaven's Gate
Love the fact that they went with the teaser poster artwork!
Extras will include interviews with Cimino, producer Joann Carelli, actor Kris Kristofferson, and composer David...
Not sure if this might be the release of the year, but if nothing else, it finally shows that it is getting the treatment it deserves on home video. While I wish that the terrific Final Cut documentary was here, this was obviously Cimino's supervised version, and he probably wanted it nowhere...
Surprised no one has mentioned it yet (Unless of course if I missed it), but Heaven's Gate will play in a restored version at the Venice Film Festival. I think the rumors of a Criterion edition are closer than ever if you ask me.

Universal has finally announced Matinee...for May 4th! It will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surrround sound. In addition, the disc with also include the "MANT" footage and the theatrical trailer as bonus material. Now this is a happy day!
Saw it last night and thought it was awesome. They got the American version right for the most part. Like the UK cut, this is the most fun you'll have at the movies this year. It doesn't matter which cut you watch. It will satisfy your craving for fun.
Well, Robert Wilonsky just published his critique, and he has confirmed that the film has excised certain scenes, and in his case, it is for the worst. I'll still see it though at midnight Thursday evening, but here's the link to the article if you want a view...
So if theatre websites are to be believed, then I can confirm that Pirate Radio has in fact been recut. The new runtime is listed at most sites at 115 minutes.
Didn't see a thread for this movie, so I thought it was fine time for one. So here we go....
Originally set for release on August 28th by Universal until given to the Independent division of Focus Features and rescheduled for release in just a couple of weeks, The Boat That Rocked was one of...
Believe it or not, when Columbia had its 75th Anniversary, they did a documentary on the studio called "The Lady With the Torch". It was hosted by Glenn Close and it wasn't bad. However, the only problem with it is that it jumps around a little too often, and it seems to skip some moments...
The best films I have seen in real scope in the last 15 years have been directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and photographed by Robert Elswit. The day his collaboration with DP Robert Elswit ends is the day I mourn with agony. Elswit has done his fair share of Super 35 work, but his essential works...
Bumping this old thread (was going to post a new one because I came across something that peaked my interest). I was on Ultimate Disney looking around in the Animated Classics section when I noticed some mention about a Special Edition release coming for this film. I also saw a date with June...
Couldn't find a thread for the movie and checked as well, so I figured I would post a thread for it. I Love You, Man is a new comedy starring Paul Rudd & Jason Segal. In the film, Rudd plays Peter Klaven, a real estate agent who wants to make it into the big time. At the same time, he is also...
About damn time! Now can someone over at Universal please release Matinee in your own damn version. Trying to find the OOP edition at a good price is becoming quite ridiculous these days! Guilty admission: I've never seen this film, but for its extras, it will be worth it though. Still...
In regards to Digital Copy, I really like them as long as they are compatable with iTunes software, since I have an iPod. I have no problem taking those movies with me whereever I go. So far, I only have Juno and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, although I do plan to get The Bank Job at some point too...
