UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - JFK -- in 4k UHD

Just received and noticed disc 3 (blu ray theatrical cut) does NOT say it is from the new 2023 4k scan) where it does explicitly say that for disc 2 (blu ray directors cut). Shouts website does say that all versions are from the 2023 5k scan but it is disconcerting. I'm already on the fence on...

West Wing: The Complete Series Collection

Sounds like the complete series of Alias is another offender. Great, collectible, packaging concept destroyed by "shove the discs in cardboard". One thing that appeals to collectors - innovative packaging - is ruined by crappy storage... Joe 6'Pack could care less about scratched discs (as long...

West Wing: The Complete Series Collection

I bought seasons 2-6 over the summer, during the last 20% sale at DDD, but sent them back, unopened, shortly thereafter when I heard that a "complete series" set was scheduled for later this year. SInce I only owned Season 1, I figured picking up seasons 2-7 would be as cheap with a "complete...

*** Official STAR WARS DVD Glitch Thread

I certainly wasn't directing my comments to you, Grant. I was simply saying that I hope this doesn't turn into a big scam by people who hear of this replacement "offer" by word of mouth and try to get free copies of Star Wars w/o buying the trilogy. And of course it is not that big of a deal to...

*** Official STAR WARS DVD Glitch Thread

god, I hope we can restrain ourselves from "advertising" this exchange to people who do NOT own the trilogy on DVD.... ie: telling all our friends that this is a good way to get a free DVD of Star Wars...if FOX starts getting massive numbers of requests we are going to end up with having to send...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- isn't the most "pure" way to listen to ANH in Dolby 2.0 anyway? 5.1 was not the original presentation, and just as we want the original movies for their content, isn't the 5.1 mix just another...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

isn't the most "pure" way to listen to ANH in Dolby 2.0 anyway? 5.1 was not the original presentation, and just as we want the original movies for their content, isn't the 5.1 mix just another example of the "tweaking" that Lucas has done to audio/video/content all along?

    Uneducated clerks

i think the reason it is so infuriating is (and this goes for a "clerk" in any store and for any product) because most of us realize that if we were half as ignorant or incompetent about ANY aspect of our job we would be summarily fired...

    Uneducated clerks

As satisfying as it would have been, and as accurately termed "self-defense" as it would have been, either both of you or neither of you would have ended up in jail. The cops arrest now and let the DA ask questions later.

    Uneducated clerks

actually I can't believe you still made the purchase after being fed that line... i certainly wouldn't give a dime to any store that was propagating such ignorance... (or worse) and yes, that does prevent me from shopping at BB, CC and various other sundry shops... for the price of waiting...

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

Well, I'd settle for the "new" transfer from eight years ago that never made it onto DVD although this article seems to suggest that Mr. May is under the impression that it did... IE: he chastises Pioneer for referring to the "re-package" as a brand new transfer when it is not, but does not...

SCHINDLER'S LIST verified for 2004 release by Video Store Magazine!

asking for "scientific proof" is just silly... double sided DVDs were in the specs from the get go... the first Mainstream DVDs released were double sided WB "flippers"... Just as vinyl and laserdisc were two sided mediums so is DVD... certainly all three could have been limited to one side...

2nd consecutive bad DVD! Bad batch?

Best Buy can look up your purchase by credit card... their site is incredibly vague as to what happens with defective DVDs... they say "In order to receive credit for these items, they must be unopened." that implies that a defective item can be exchanged but not "credited"... finding an...

Review of "Married With Children Season One" Up at dvdreview.com

This- and in the numerous other similar posts, in this thread and many others- viewpoint is absolutely insane. Simply buying these things, crappy as they may be, to show the studios that there is demand only shows them that there is demand for crap. This is the LAST way to tell them you...

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

Actually, Pioneer will look at it this way: "What better excuse to roll out the same old non-spiffy non-16:9 transfer of the original TCM to coincide with the remake debuting on DVD?"

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

Having made no mention of the history of "corrected" v. "uncorrected" prints and having stated that this and the prior DVD were simply ported from the LD, I suspect that the opinions of the video quality expressed in this review may not be based on an actual A-B comparison of the LD v. DVD...

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

no one is forgetting the extent and nature of the corrections that were not used, limited as they may be, rather what we are NOT forgetting is the fact that a corrected print does exist... clearly however the corporate powers that be either DID forget that or simply didn't care... my bet is the...

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

seems to me that no one is comparing TCM with any other 16mm low budget amateur genre film, rather they are comparing various home video versions of the same film... i have the original DVD version, and no other, so I can't speak as to the quality of that release relative to any other...

    TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Re-release specs!!!

The consensus seems to be that this release sports the same transfer as the earlier one, but I don't think any posts have said this based on any definitive knowledge. (ie: feedback from the publisher, A-B comparison, etc;) If anyone picks this one up and is able to do an A-B comparison it...

    Red Dragon pricing

for all big brick and mortars and the big/reputable/us based online retailers, the 1 disc sells for ~$15 and the 2 disc for ~$26-$28... a (near) 100% premium for a supplemental disc is absurd and unacceptable. that being said, the only version of the film that I will buy on DVD is the 2 disc...

How to get DVD-RW to work with DVD players?

No, generally DVD-R and DVD-RW and DVD+RW are all different and competing formats. Panny is the biggest DVD-R (and DVD-RAM) proponent with Philips being the DVD-RW l;eader. There are several PC based DVD-RW drive makers. To my knowledge non of the existing drives/recorders allow DVD-R and...

How to get DVD-RW to work with DVD players?

DVD-RW is generally not compatible with existing standalone DVD players. DVD-R works with many, perhaps most, existing units, but DVD-RW is a different format (lasers, media material, and what not) that simply won't work unless a player (and only a few current generation players support it)...
