Whew, finally got my butt in gear and finished my speakers. I applied 4 coats of a 50/50 solution of boiled linseed oil and poly then followed that up with a rubbed on poly thinned 50% for 3 more coats. Turned out nice, I'm probably going to finish up my sub with a few more coats to match them...
