Aaron,
That's what we call a "Keeeepur" :)
Gene,
Real guns, Toy Guns (Air$oft) computers, Hi Fi, Cars, Boats... Yep.... Broke! I couldn't afford a woman even if one would put up with me! :D
Luke,
I'm LOLing! It's a dang shame that any hobby worth having, isn't affordable, heck even stamp collecting can get outta hand when you decide you need the stamp with the upside down airplane! :)
I just don't "get it" (Being single and 33, I really don't get it....)
See the way I am if someone gave me a list of demands, I'd do the same.. "Honey, the washing machine and dryer are too large and take up too much space in the laundry room, I think we should get rid of them and wash the...
If they don't understand, after they sit down and watch one Blue Ray, it then, becomes much more clear to them.
The last person that experianced my home theater had this to say: Ohh my God, *pause* Ohh my God! This is better than being in a movie theater!
That was from my co-worker who has a...
I agree with Bill, if you are going to drop 10-15K (we don't know if that includes the display) I'd be visiting the high end stores. If that figure includes the display then that changes the game a bit.
But Gene, the ends of that Monoprice Toslink aren't gold plated, how could it possibly be as good as a Monster Cable Toslink with it's superior gold plated tips that aid in conductivity! (of optical data) :)
Christian,
I am not trying to argue so please don't take it as such. But I work in the IT field and I've done head/platter swaps before. Typically the heads do not retract past the end of the platters (for reasons obvious to anyone that knows how a hard drive works) and thus, the platters and...
Rod,
Well if you haven't eliminated the enclosure as the culprit I certainly would do that first. You can remove the drive from the enclosure and hook it up sans enclosure to the PC, you will likely have to buy a drive slaving kit from new egg, many manufacturers they are all inexpensive and...
Any time a hard disk starts to spin up and clicks and then stops, it's usually either the platter motor or the read/write head motor has went south. Can you recover the data? No.. Can the data be recovered? Yes.. You need to send the drive out to a data recovery specialist who will remove the...
You do not necessarily "need" a gain control on the amp because you can control the signal level going out of the receiver. Any decent amp would work. I do not have any models or brands to recommend.
Hanson,
I am runnng the HL67a750
I have not tried DVI so I was not aware of the under scan issue. From the hard core gamers I talked to, they all said the same thing, so long as you have a good VGA cable and no interference issues, there is no difference between VGA and DVI until you get into...
Dave,
I can relate.... I'm 33 and up until April of this year my Dad and I lived together and we made and shared all the bills together, it was a mutual arrangement after my parents split years ago that I would stay and step up and help support the household. And together we did great things...
Dave,
Is that a Torrodial Purr Supply? hahahah :)
Can't wait to hear your impressions! And hey do me a favor if you have Hancock on BR, play it and let me know if the Onkyo loses it's mind on the audio!
There is an HDMI-M which is "Mini"
Connectors [img]http://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/common/images/magnify-clip.png">
HDMI Type A receptacle connector.
HDMI Type A plug connector. There are four HDMI connector types. Type A and Type B are defined in the HDMI 1.0 specification, Type C...
I think you are just noticing it more now because you have lowered your noise floor on the PC by getting a more quiet power supply. Not all hard drives produce the same amount of noise either, they do make "quiet" hard drives just like anything else for the ever expanding HTPC market.
Gene...... HOW can there be a difference?? It's D I G I T A L ..... It's either works, or it does not. A 1 does not go in one side and come out the other side as a 2.... Or a 1.5 ..
I won't argue that a more expensive cable may be physically more robust and may outlast a cheaper cable...
Jeff,
So let me get this straight.... You are saying that the $100.00 Monster Cable Digiphile 10,000 Special Collectors edition, boxed set, HDMI cable doesn't make the 1's come out with sharper edges and the 0's with more defined curvature?
