6.1 uses three surrounds in the rear, so use the rt35i as your surround center speaker. As for 7.1, the surrounds are in the rear, so youd need two speakers to use 7.1

I just picked up the Marantz SR-7200 from Cambridge Soudworks for $749. Sounds great. Reiterating what John said, it's got plenty of power, a very useful learning remote, and 6.1 channels.. I love it.
