The main issue with this set seems to be that it was initially announced with quite a generous set of extra features (mostly commentary audio tracks on many of the episodes) that were completed but, finally, not included for undisclosed reasons.
Thank you once again, Matt. Actually, as a true Gabriel-victim myself, I have my NEW BLOOD Deluxe Boxset on its way from Amazon UK right now, so combing or no combing is kind of a moot point. But I think this kind of egregious encoding flaws were a thing of the past, and should be unacceptable...
Thank you for your prompt reply and clarification, Matt. I must confess that, hard as I try to grasp it, most of the technical side of digital data storage and reproduction goes over my head, and I am fully aware of how inaccurate and misleading a screen capture may be, but, even so, the combing...
Errr... Did you notice that the image switches back and forth if you scrool your pointer over it, alternating between the blu-ray and the HD broacdcast capture? Because the difference is quite substantial. Maybe you did not realize that, and just saw the first image you are shown (if you...
I consider myself something of an "archivist" when it comes to my compulsive collector habits, be it music, comic books or movies, meaning that, no matter if there's a new, improved version (let's say, a better printed, hardcover collection of some old monthly comic books), I always like to have...

While I agree with Ron about many of his points, and I think that most of the time people is disappointed due to their own preconceived expectations, and not because of the answers given, I still think it would be fair to find this latest chat too vague. And as long as people does not feel...
With the upcoming release of THE WRESTLER, which I would say it's kind of the grandson of REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT, now would seem the perfect time to release some kind of special edition, maybe offering both the theatrical and the extended TV cut, or at least with the added scenes separately...
Now that the expected Blu-Ray release has been somewhat confirmed for the near future, let's hope Fox regain some sense and courage enough to put back the already produced ALIEN3 docu features they vetoed for the QUADRILOGY DVD release. And, since we're at it, I hope Mr. Lauzirika and Co...
The forums at DVDFile are up and running again. I guess it was just some technical glitch. But yeah, the site used to be THE site way back then, but after Peter M. Brack left things were never the same.
I am wary of alerting the eBay scalpers, but for all of you in the New York city area and still Syn-less, I just came back from the 5th Ave. Disney Store and there were some 4 or 5 copies on the rack, maybe more in the backstore, who knows.
I hope you get yours!
Happy Holidays!
As someone pointed out here a few posts above, there are definite plans from Warner for a 10th Anniversary Edition nex year. Yes, guys, 10 YEARS already. As for the remastered color scheme, I own both the original DVD release and the Ultimate DVD box set, and yes, the one in the set is...
Thanks, Ken. I'll let you know how it turns out if I decide to take the risk (although I must say I feel inclined not to, if only to put my money –or rather to NOT put it– where my mouth is and boycott Warner's foul play).
I take it that, being a Mac user, I will need Windows through Bootcamp or Parallels only to install the downloader and then download the video file, but it being a Windows Media Video file, I will then be able to play it in QuickTime thanks to the Flip4Mac wmv plugin... or am I wrong? In any...
I must thank Chuck too for his many screenshots. And, while I am somewhat fond of that greenish range from the previous DVD release (and, apparently, from ALL previous releases), for it somehow matches my memories, I am quite sold on the reddish but more natural and vivid color range of the...
Paul Newman was not just an actor, not even the best actor, he was something unparalleled, unapprehensible. He was the Roger Federer, the Michael Jordan of the screen. He was leaps away from the rest, he just played in another league. He'll be sorely missed.
I have not seen this reported on any review of this release, but I was watching today the TROY Director's Cut I just bought yesterday, and there's a noticeable audio and video glitch at 10:30-10:32 on Disc 1 (when Achilles is shouting 'Anyone else?!'), with some kind of artifact flashing across...
Thank you for the news, Jerome... ... But I'm worried that Alex Proyas is doing a 'George Lucas' here. Let's hope they include both the original and the 'refurbished' versions.
