Thanks for the insight everybody. Given that the UWX is no longer available in Toronto at any of the major retailers, I have decided to delay my purchase and see what is available in 6 months. I have a hard time spending the same amount on a F500 as I would have on a UWX only to end up with a...
I've been told by a number of retailers in Toronto that the F500 is identical to the UWX. This of course has not been confirmed by the Hitachi rep. On the other hand, I've checked with four different retail chains and none of them have any new UWX models left - only floor models. So, this...
After scouring the Hitachi web site, I noticed the following feature difference: 51UWX20B: Super Contrast 5-Element Lens System 51F500: High Brightness 4-Element Lens System Anybody know what this means? This information can be found in the following pdf files...
Expect to pay GST/PST or HST at the border as well as brokerage fees. Duties on electronic equipment is around 7% with taxes charged on the duty. Goods marked "made in usa" have no duty.
I'll echo Russel's impressions of the Studio 20 vs. the Diva 2.1. The 20s are very capable speakers however I also preferred the sound of the B&W (602v2 in my case) over the Studio 20s. I felt that the B&W had a wider sound stage. The 20s seemed to line all the "voices" in a straight line...
I agree with Ken. Given the current economic outlook, I think dealers can be persuaded to part with the Denon 3802 for $1450.
Btw, duties on receivers from Japan is only 6.5%. This hardly accounts for the difference in price between Canadia and the US.
I was shopping at StevesTV in Kitchener for a 5 speaker setup. When I was asked if I had a receiver, I indicated that I would purchase the Denon 3802 online from the US. I was then offered the 3802 for $1450 + tax if I bought the whole system from him and he was willing to deal on the system...
Try to find a store that carries both lines and spend some time listening to them with the same electronics. An A/B scenario would be ideal.

The B-stock Diva 6.1's came at a $200 discount as part of a package with the 2.1's and C3. Check AV123.com for their "Summer Sale".
The Denon AVR-3802 was $747 + shipping at MyDigitalUniverse.com. Go to their site to find out the shipping charge to your location. Note that the price of the...
Canadians buying Diva, SVS, and Denon from a US retailer:
I believe you will be charged the following:
Swans Diva: Price + shipping + 6.5% duty + GST/PST (on top of the duties)
Denon: Price + shipping + 6.5% duty + GST/PST (on top of the duties)
SVS: Price + shipping + GST/PST
The...
This is a review of my recently purchased system consisting of:
Denon AVR-3802
Swans Diva 6.1, C3, 2.1
SVS 20-39CS
12-gauge speaker wire from Home Depot
Existing equipment:
Sony PS2 - currently used as a console, DVD, and CD player. I'll be looking for a progressive scan DVD changer in...
Both are great speakers. I didn't compare the 602 to the Studio 40s however I did compare the 603s to the Studio 60s. I found the B&W had a wider and deeper soundstage than the Studio 60s. On the other hand, I thought the Studio 60s had better bass extension. The 60's also seemd to have...
Matty.
I am positive that my optical out is turned "on" on the PS2.
The optical cable is plugged into Optical 1 on the Denon 3802 receiver which is mapped to DVD.
Thanks!
Thanks Jeremey.
I tried searching for a setting on my PS2. The only thing I found was the toggle to enable the optical out. FYI, I don't have the Sony remote.

I just got my new system and I'm trying to set it up so that I can hear my movies in DTS. I can't seem to get it working so I'm seeking any help that might be out there.
Here's my setup:
PS-2.
Denon AVR-3802.
Optical out from PS-2 to Denon Optical in.
I've enabled optical out on my PS2...
Nathan.
Did you compare the 603 (floorstanding) to the 303 or the 601 (bookshelf) to the 303.
I agree with your statements if it was the latter comparison.
Thanks for all of your advice. I hope many benefitted from this thread.
I was at the store, credit card in hand, ready to purchase the B&W 603, 601, and LCR6. However, we simply couldn't meet on price. So, i decided to take a chance with the Swan Divas.
After months of auditioning and...
After months of auditioning and researching, I've finally pulled the trigger.
I ordered the Diva 6.1, 2.1, C6, SVS 20-39, and Denon AVR-3802 today. Hopefully, I will not be disappointed with the Divas. I was about to purchase the B&W 603, 601, and LCR6 when i decided to take a chance .
I'll...
I haven't done a direct comparison between the 11s and 100s however I did do many comparisons between speakers in the Monitor line vs. the Studio line. IMHO, the difference in clarity and accuracy was much better with the Studio line. The Monitor's are good too for the price however if you are...
