I mentioned this in the Immersion/WYWH SACD thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/311324/pink-floyd-remasters-including-high-res-blu-ray-audio-and-wywh-on-sacd-finally/30#post_3869115 OK, I said screw it and just ordered my copy. There is indeed only 10K copies being pressed and...
It is beautiful and it is fantastic but i don't agree about the panning or discrete effects...IMO, "Welcome To The Machine" has both in spades. In fact, I'll go as far as to say they are somewhat jarring and took me out of the music at times. That being said, it's a minor complaint seeing as...
OK, I said screw it and just ordered my copy. There is indeed only 10K copies being pressed and they are indeed up to 6K right now. I ended up speaking to an employee there for a few minutes and they are so stoked about this title. Apparently, it's cased in a book-like edition, so it's really...
Anybody had a listen to any of the new remastered editions of "Achtung Baby?" I have always felt that this album should have a little bit more on the top end (provided it's *supposed* to be there
I watched the entire film last night and while I cannot compare it to the previous DVD incarnations, I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, I set the bar pretty low and while things started out a tad rough (with Billy Crystal typing away at his keyboard during the opening credits), it cleans up...
The reason why I'm so familiar with this scene is because I used it as a audio demo for a long time when it came out in DTS ES-Discrete on the EE DVDs.
Here's what I posted on another forum:
Just watched the scene of Gandalf entering The Shire. Not only do I see anything overtly green to these eyes, I don't even notice the supposed darkening of the part where Gandalf knocks at Bilbo's door. Not saying these things are there/not there, but...
Easter Eggs
There are three "easter eggs" on the Blu-ray discs, with each being found on the disc one of each film, in the supplements tab, where an entire tab is a ring. They're not exactly hidden all that well, to be frank, so putting them here is a bit of a stretch, but ah well...
I'm not gonna remotely attempt to chime in on the green tint that may/may not be present on the EE BRs, but I distinctly recall the rolling fields in the beginning of the FofR DVD versions being a VERY distinct green to the point where it didn't seem realistic. Once I got used to the look, I...
For me, "The Wall" yes (only cuz I wanted to hear it in lossless/high-res surround as it's not my favorite PF album) but defnitiely not WYWH, that will sound fantastic.
Some additional info on these sets...doesn't look like we'll hear high-res audio for "The Wall" on Blu-ray :

WYWH...
Curious to see when Acoustic Sounds starts advertising the WYWH SACD - they've been sitting on this treasure for years, one would think they'd be comping at the bit to get the news out.
I'm a big fan of DMB and post a bit on a DMB message board and I've got to say that BTCS on vinyl is like the holy grail on those boards, it's just so damned elusive!
Since I bought all most of my Floyd during my college years, my older CD pressings are scratched all to hell which bugs an anal-retentive audio guy like me. That being said, I'm looking forward to getting nice shiny new copies of the older material in remastered form. I'm also not worried...
I would say that the first paragraph is describing the Discovery Edition series as a whole while the second is describing the boxed set. I mean, really all the boxed set is is the individually released albums in one box with some "special" stuff added.
