DVD Review HTF REVIEW: "The Love Bug" Special Edition (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) (with screenshots)

I just received my copy of The Love Bug today (ordered it from BestBuy.com. Silly question for other owners: did your copy come with any type of booklet/insert? All mine came with was a small yellow flyer advertising the "Disney on MSN Internet Service" and I just wanted to make sure I'm not...

Married With Children, Good Times - box art

I should have known Dave would beat me to it! :)

Married With Children, Good Times - box art

I don't know if this is common knowledge at this point, but this evening I did a search and stumbled across a pic of the Married with Children DVD Menu. It's located at this site: http://www.dvdangle.com/previews/screen.php?id=711. The other thing I found interesting is that on the menu pic...

Married With Children, Good Times - box art

The SRP may be high, but as always I'm sure it will be possible to buy the MWC DVD at a lower, more acceptable price. If I think too long about the fact that this TV show is not going to be available in season-by-season discs, I start to get really mad, so I better end this post!

Married With Children, Good Times - box art

Well, I'll buy the "Best of" set of MWC but they better release season-by-season sets too! This is the one TV show I've been waiting for, and I'm quite disappointed we won't see it in its full glory. Why should someone else decide which episodes I like best?

HTF REVIEW: "Monsters, Inc." (Highly Recommended) (with screenshots)

I'll bet that sound effects only track will be pretty cool. I listened to part of the same track on Toy Story 2 a few weeks ago and it was pretty interesting and a great way to hear the importance of each speaker in your HT! Thanks for the review Ron - this one's coming to me free via the...

    Rockets FInely Tuned!!

Thanks Therese, that makes perfect sense. I figured there had to be a room-related reason for doing so, but I was also wondering if perhaps it was related in some way to the nature of the center channel speaker. I see from your explanation that this is not the case. It's great that you were...

    Rockets FInely Tuned!!

Therese, Thanks for posting your thoughts on the Rockets. Are you running your center channel a few DBs hot due to some room-related acoustic issues?

HTF REVIEW: "The Rookie" (with screenshots)

I'm definitely adding this one to the collection. I loved this movie in the theater! Thanks for another nice review Ron. BTW, nice license plate!

HTF REVIEW: "The Royal Tenenbaums" (CRITERION) (with screenshots)

For me this is definitely a funny movie but in a dark sense. The humor, generally speaking, came from the generally strange, sad, odd lives of the members of this family. I loved it, even though it wasn't "funny" in the way of many of my other favorite movies. I thought it was brilliant!

HTF REVIEW: "The Royal Tenenbaums" (CRITERION) (with screenshots)

I'll agree the menus aren't the most exciting in the world, but I think the real value of this set is the quality of the movie and the transfer, at least for me. They could have done more with the menus, but there is so much else to like about the set that I can overlook it.

Skip the theater, Get the DVD?

I can relate, David. We bought discounted movie ticket vouchers through my wife's company (one of the perks they offer to employees). There were no restrictions listed on the website, but when the tickets arrived we realized you can't use them during a film's first 10 days of release. In the...

HTF REVIEW: "The Royal Tenenbaums" (CRITERION) (with screenshots)

Just rented and watched this DVD tonight. What a great film! I found myself laughing every step of the way, and I really appreciated the way it was filmed and the originality of it. I'll certainly be picking this one up.

HTF REVIEW: "Speed" (Five Star Collection) (with screenshots)

It's going to be interesting to track the sales figures for this DVD (if those figures are released for it). It's a pretty popular movie, released in a steller package. I would think it will do quite well, though probably not as well as some other DVDs that have been heavily advertised. I...

You and me, parking lot 3 o'clock. Where is '3 O'CLOCK HIGH'!?

I agree this films seems underrated. I've always enjoyed watching it when it hits cable from time to time, and would certainly pick it up on DVD. But I'd rather have Heartbreak Ridge first!

Skip the theater, Get the DVD?

For me, here are the top two reasons why I'm really getting disillusioned with commercial movie theaters: 1. Patrons who are either rude or distracting in some way 2. Low quality level relative to my home theater Honestly, I think there's been a pretty annoying problem in many of the...

HTF REVIEW: "Speed" (Five Star Collection) (with screenshots)

Last I heard True Lies was still delayed. I heard rumors it might come out later this year but I wasn't able to confirm them. Anyone have any more updated info? True Lies 5-Star would hold a place of honor in my DVD collection (...Jamie Lee doing a strip tease in anamorphic widescreen...)

Which do you prefer, bare speaker wire or banana plugs?

Banana plugs for me; much easier to deal with and I don't notice any degradation/difference in sound.
