I am sorry but this is a somewhat disappointing review. The film itself is excellent, one of the better sci-fi movies I've seen in the last two or three years. Danny Boyle did a really good job with this one. I thought the video and the sound were pretty good as well. The blacks are fine...
Oh I don't know about that... I mean sure, the Extended Editions are the way to go, but I think the theatrical versions have both nostalgic and archival value. In fact, I have to admit that while I do prefer the EE, there are a few shots and a couple of edits that I prefer from the theatrical...
Well since the LotR trilogy are among my favorite movies, I have no problem forking over extra cash to buy both the theatrical and the extended, if that is how they are released. :) F
Oh god... Babylon 5 I would go insane if they would release B5 in HD format. Heck, I would even buy an HD-DVD player if it was only available in that format!
So, finally... my BD 5-disc briefcase arrived from Amazon. Here are a few details:
1. Briefcase and outer plastic arrived in good conditions. No melted plastic on mine.
2. My number is 099375/103000, got one of the last few ones, I see.
3. Everything inside the briefcase was in good condition...
Jesus christ Charlie... Jesus christ.
I just finished watching Dangerous Days and I am speechless. You did an amazing job with that documentary. Congratulations are in order and big thank you from me. Blade Runner is my favorite movie and this documentary is everything I ever wanted.
Thanks again!
Hi Ron, I understand where you are coming from. Given your position and HTF's huge popularity I can understand you wanting new releases on time. However, your comment worries me a bit. Maybe I misunderstood. Are you honestly saying that, when choosing between owning a given movie that is...
Yeah, the 2-disc edition I picked up has the new Drew Struzan artwork, which by the way is awesome. It's has this "metallic" look, which I am not crazy about but the artwork itself is great.
Here's Amazon's pic:

Wow!
I just picked the 2-disc DVD edition and... wow... it looks simply amazing! You did a great job Charlie!
I actually ordered the BD ultimate set from Amazon, which I am sure I'll get next week, but I saw the 2-disc DVD set at a local DVD shop today and I picked it up, I couldn't resist...
My apologies if this has been asked before, or if I am posting this in the wrong forum. I just ordered the 5-disc set for the upcoming Blade Runner release, and decided to go with Blu-Ray over DVD. My question is, do we know what are the specs for the Blu-Ray set? As in, uncompressed audio...
I kept both since, in effect, they're two different versions of the movie. The theatrical and the extended versions differ from each other considerably, and the only way to go appreciate them both is to keep them both. Plus, the theatrical version is the only one with the trailers for example. F
Jesus... they were trying to sell debris on ebay? What's wrong with these people. Sad day, not just for the astronauts' families, NASA or the US, but to everyone who believes in the spirit of exploration. My condolences to the families of the astronauts.
Just an FYI, Jeremy over at dvd.ign.com posted a very nice summary of deleted scenes which we may see on the eventual EE DVD for TTT. Nice job Jeremy...
Ok, time to chime in on the new thread... :)
I love the shots of the new menus, I particularly like the fact that they're using Alan Lee's paintings! They look very stylish and very well done.
About Simon's disc-changing theory, I would rather have a simple fade-to-black on disc one (no...
Here's how things are looking up for the DVD on the other side of the pond.
I was lucky enough to snag a copy of the R1 DVD a couple of weeks ago, but I still wanted to see how the R2 disc was like, and specifically how it was presented/sold.
I went to a local DVD shop here in Gothenburg...
Awesome comparison Jeremy, very very interesting... can't wait to read your article. I refuse to get the FS version but I'm still interested in seeing what they did.
