Well, that's the problem, I don't know exactly what it should sound like. Should Independence Day sound incredibly out of control like it's shaking your whole house?
When I sit down to watch movies on my home theater, I'm backed up against a wall, literally. Now, sitting on my bed next to a wall while watching my movies makes my sub kinda "ring" my ears and sound heavier than normal. Is there anything I can do about this? My home theater is nicely placed...
Yes, these measurements are from the actual reciever. I too noticed the same things about DTS you mentioned. Anyway, I sometimes have problems with dialogue, but not often. Will turning up the center channel ruin the balance of the system?

Well, as I've been watching movies on my home theater for about 6 months now, I've made many changes and discovered many things. The thing that always seems to get me is volume importance. Now I know all DVD's are recorded at different volume levels but I wanted to know if my system is...
as far as American Nightmare goes, it's not a slasher at all. It's a documentary made by IFC last year about the impact of american horror films on the country. It's very good.
Wow, this movie looks awesome. I consdier myself to be a big horror and Friday the 13th fan so I've been waiting for this forever. Looks awesome. Fellowship of the Ring has 26 pages or something but this movie is gonna be the surprise of 2002.
here is the list of Platinum titles:
Snow White
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Lion King
Bambi
The Little Mermaid

DO NOT buy an apex player. I hgad my player for about 6 months until it just plain stopped working. extremely unreliable. Get the Toshiba SD-1700 for 142 bucks at best Buy.
Hey, I'm 15 and have a pretty nice home theater. I got a 32 inch GE TV, that looks pretty good despite the brand. I have the Toshiba SD-1700 player with anamorphic squeeze, so even on my 4:3 TV, i see absolutely no distortion. I have the JVC DS-TP350 5.1 system around the room. Got the...
is there a database such as DVD Aficionado or DVD Profiler that lets you keep track of your cds? kinda like a cd database? please help me out.

watching my old video back when i was a kid, i remember the scene where the lady on top of the building says "oh god, i hope they bring back elvis" and i remember her boobs jiggling around. Watching this on the DVD it is just not there. Watching the "making of ID4" feature on the second disc...
Well, I may be wrong but I think the "Shrink" feature on my Toshiba is different than anamorphic squeeze, considering the "shrink" feature works on all my movies, including non-anamorphic ones like The Abyss.
On my Toshiba SD-1700 it has a Shrink feature which is basically like zoom but it is shrink. I have a 4:3 32 inch tv (can't afford flat or wide, i'm 15) and there is a little bit of distortion obviously on my 4:3 TV. Using The shrink feature it puts the entire picture on my screen for me to see...
Yes, add my name to the list. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm always up for discovering an old horror movie that hasn't gotten it's due. If this would get a good release, I'd definitely check it out.
I just bought this unit to replace the 100 buck Apex i bought that liked to skip all the time, never work, and piss me off completely. So far I've been very satisfied with this Toshiba I've had for the last 24 hours. Everything is better about this unit than the Apex. Anyway, how good do you...
who cares. limp bizkit sucks a fat one and everyone here knows it. why don't you buy a real music dvd such as the following:
Pink Folyd: The Wall
The Song Remians the Same
Tool: Salival
Joe Satriani: Live In San Francisco (amazing, proves he's the best guitar player there is, besides steve vai)
i really don't know anything about anime other than it is japanese animation and looks really cool. On the Action channel there is anime all the time and i watch some of it. They have stuff like Grappler Baki, Bubblegum Crisis, Tekken, and tons of other types of series. Are these worth watching...
Please, can someone atleast give me an opinion of what they think of the features? I am seriosuly considering purchasing this and don't want to purcahse a bad product. Can you look over the specs here: http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=...064092#details
Please give me any kind of advice. Thanks.
Well, for a progressive scan DVD player, it's hard to come across a good affordable one. Recently, I've found a JVC Progressive scan loaded with tons of features like mp3 decoding, two digital outputs, VSS, progressive scan, component video out, and all the standard features. I've found this DVD...
Wow. I am also 15 and though i was the only one that remotely knew anything about home theater. Antway, I've assembled from scratch in 6 months without the help of anyone: a 32 inch TV (4:3, not flat, but i can't detect any distortion...) I just put in a new 600 watt JVC DD/DTS HTIAB that sounds...
Well, first off, I need to ask you guys a question about reciever setup. On my reciever, you can set the levels of all the speakers (-10 to 10). For my sub, I got it on the standard 0 and it provides much low end but not distracting. My center speaker is +2 for a little bit louder dialogue. One...
Well, I think a lot of people here are DTS enthusiasts, as am I. I think many people here are way to worried about the DTS version though, when they could have picked up the Dolby version, with the regular bass, and ALL of the extras. I love DTS too and I'm not one of those people who only have...
