Do these DVDs contain the unedited Showtime versions of the episodes, or the syndicated broadcast versions? I ask because the Canadian release of the new Outer Limits episodes used the broadcast versions. Thanks, -David
Are you sure each episode is on the disc twice? It is possible to set up the DVD so that Titles 3-6 are the individual episodes, and that title 1 is a "play all" which uses the same VTS_0x.vob's as the individual episodes. The best way to check if there are dual episodes is to check the raw...

I also wanted to followup and say I watched the next episode (The Naked Now) and the problem seemed to be less prevalent than in "Encounter at Farpoint".

I can see this during normal play mode on a non-progressive (regular NTSC) system.

rutger_s -- I only went frame by frame to figure out what the heck the flashing was, which is when I discovered frames like the one I posted.
John G -- You explanation makes sense, that during the video editing process, fields from concurrent frames come together to form a complete mixed frame...
Finally had a chance to buy TNG season 1, and I am very disappointed with the video quality. I am not a videophile, and most of the time when others nitpick on picture quality, I don't notice what they are talking about. But TNG gets an F in my book for video quality.
Maybe it's just my disc...
Guess what? Ruthless People will be in its OAR! I spoke to a tech at BV who put a copy in his DVD-ROM, loaded it up, and it was widescreen. No idea if Anamorphic or not, but definitely OAR. Cool, and what awesome Customer Service for them to check this for me!!!

Just checked prices at dvdpricesearch, and the specs there show this as 4:3.
Worse is that Pan & Scan is implied, as non-anamorphic WS titles show as LBX next to screen format. I checked known P&S titles, and they show as 4:3 next to screen format.
