    Need advice on calibrating speakers

This is a common complaint (low center volume) some people say they have better results if they aim the center channel towards the listening position, example : if sitting below the center channel, aim the center to point towards you. The low center volume complaint seems to stop the closer you...

    Bass management (Klipsch Reference)

I read the spec's for your speakers,I would try mains set for large, center and surrounds set for small, receiver crossover set at 100,and calibrate, then see how it sounds with some of the "reference" movie and music material mentioned around this site.I would also try setting the main speakers as...

    Need help understanding voice matching

Voice matching in home theater means that if a spoken dialog were to pan across the front 3 speakers it should sound essentially the same from each, for example you wouldn't want James Earl Jones voice to sound thin on one channel, pan to another speaker and then be extra deep.As far as your...

Line level or speaker level for sub, best option ?

The best way (line level or speaker level)depends on whatever sounds best to you.The Polk speaker site recommends speaker level connections for a number of their sub sat combo's claiming you get better sound with that type of connection, ive also noticed in stores (Best Buy, Circuit City) that...

I have a question about AVIA and other calibration disc, and how to get a room curve?

I have Ultimate DVD Platinum and Avia, the main channel calibrated levels (mains, center, surrounds)are within a dB of one another with either disc, but there is a big difference in sub levels, ive heard that the DVD Platinum sub levels for the (Dolby Digital 5.1) calibration portion of the disc were...

Sub calibration with speaker level connections

If you are going to run speaker level connections to your sub,the sub will receive the complete frequency band,so your receivers fixed 100Hz crossover wont come into play, the subs own crossover then can be adjusted to come in on the bottom end of where your mains cut off, example if the mains...

    sub crossover question

Most sub manufacturers do not recommend running two types of inputs to the sub at the same time,it can damage your sub.How do yo know what the frequency response of the center and sats are? It would seem stupid on JBL's part to make a system where the center and sats drop off at 200Hz as you...

    Sub Crossover/Rear Surround ??

Sub with speaker level connections and LFE question.

I think most sub manufacturers do not recommend running low level RCA and high level speaker connections at the same time, mine doesn't.Check your subs manual or with the manufacturer, finding out the hardway (damaged sub)wouldn't be fun.

    Video Essentials and sub calibration

Just as some of the previous post's have stated,if you set the reference pink noise level of the mains, center and surrounds at 75dB,set the sub approximatley 3dB to 6dB less, example: mains 75dB,sub in the 69dB-72dB range when useing a Rat Shack meter.I know alot of people really like to have the...

    Setting Crossovers for the Subwoofer

A few people here run dual subs in this manor, run one from 90Hz down to 50Hz,set the crossover on the other sub to run from 50Hz on down,it will take some experimenting to find out which sub is better for what setting, but from what i've read here, the results are supposed to be great.
