I figured I bring this thread back again as I too am thinking of upgrading my 3802 w/ a 2 ch. POA 5200 (2 x125)to a 5803 and I'm wondering if it would be worth it. I think power will not be too noticable however I wonder if I could tell the differece in DACS on HT. Any more input?
Unfortunately, NO.....It still depends on your room response and equipment. Another factor I think is how loud do you listen to movies? If you watch at relatively low levels a "hot" mix may be not so bad. Generally, if listening at reference levels most movies can benefit from THX when watching...
Also, I believe that Polks are more efficient speakers. You typically are going to need a bit more stable power to run the M&Ks as many of their speakers have a 4 ohm impedance.
I went from polks to M&Ks, and while the polks were no match in clarity they definatley not as bad as many on the forums make them sound. They M&Ks tend to be able to play very loud without introducing much distortion (the polks couldnt keep up) .The Polks are however nice warm speakers and do a...
the firmware i believe will only fix the chroma bug. The stuttering is yours to cherish. I returned my 3800 and bought the cheapo 1600. Way more realible and picture is just as good.
I just upgraded from the 2500 to the htps 7000. The sound was a huge improvement. The picture improvement was nominal from the two units howver compared to being plugged straight into a wall the improvement is great.
I am currently running a 3802 with a denon POA 5200 125 x2 amp on the front two channels and I am pretty happy with the result. I have been thinking however, would it make more sense to use 1 of the 2 channels for the center speaker being that it is the most used in a movie. I do not listen to...
tweeters across front need to be at ear height or aimed to ear in order to get the most out of this model. They have a wide horizontal axis but for correct imagining the vertical should be dead on.
I think that they are awesome! I would go with either there 750 set (3 750s 2 550s and 1250 sub) or the new 850 set which was annouced this week. You should be able to get them at 33% off list. 2 things to think about with me suggestion. Does your Sherwood have good power into 4ohms and a...
I had a 2800 which i returned for a 3800. I'd say the picture is great however it seems to have a few bugs. Chroma bug being one that I didnt like. the 3800 is incredable...any softness in the picture can be corrected by the sharpness setting on the player (it increases bandwidth which is rolled...
Due to their THX select rating meaning that they are for a room in the 2k cubic feet arena, the 750 set comes with 550s which are monopole which often work better if they need to placed closer then 12" from the back wall (i.e. if your seating position is set up against the back wall, monopoles...
Jermey, I'm using the "darker" setting (based on manuel recommendation when using componet) and everything else on default. Give it a try and let me know what you think (does it add noise?)
Thanks Jeremy. Yes I have a calibrated Mits, w/red push attenuator, and it is only with that one shade. I love the player but am worried at the noise I'm seeing with alot of ref. DVDs. I am using the "darker" mode which I wonder is the problem. Or perhaps the picture is so accurate that it is...
Ilove mine, however you may consider if you are into a "sweetening" of the recording or do you want accuracy? If you are looking for the former, go with a B&W or one of the others mentioned. If it is accuracy you are looking for (bad recordings sound bad, great ones are incredible) go with the...
