Heads up for movie musical fans: I got an email from a friend this morning who had just pre-ordered A DATE WITH JUDY from Deep Discount. It's not rumor, it's fact. 11/6 street date. This must be some kind of exclusive because I also checked DD's sister-company Critic's Choice, and they...
Just heard from a friend that Amazon is having some great prices right now on a lot of boxed sets, and my favorite release from last year, Warner's THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT four disc DVD set (the trilogy of films and the bonus disc) on sale for a mere $20! I don't know if Amazon made a mistake on...
Does anyone have the stats on this release. I see it listed as "widescreen", but I fear, since it's an old disc, and it's Disney, that it may be 4x3 matted, in which case I'll skip the purchase. Any answers would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!
In its day, it was a huge box-office hit.... It won an Oscar for best original screenplay... It earned several Oscar nominations, including James Cagney for BEST ACTOR (he should have won over Ernest Borgnine in MARTY (snooze!) )...and should have earned a Best Actress nod for Miss Doris...
These great films (in ULTRA RESOLUTION yet!) among other musicals are due from Warner in 6 days, and I haven't even seen one review yet! Does anyone know if any reviews are posted anywhere on these titles? Aside from the two deluxe double discs, I'm anxious to hear about the PQ and audio of...
Although 2005 has just arrived, I can safely say that the upcoming Warner Gangsters boxed set will be one of the highlight releases of the year.... Since street date is only about 10 days away, does anyone know of any reviews yet?
Will we be getting one of those wonderful HTF Herb Kane reviews of Warner's THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: COMPLETE COLLECTION? (or SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROS. & DAMN YANKEES!) A few of us have weighed in with comments here, and I know Herb has acknowledged that he didn't get review copies until...
An article in VARIETY today gives only sketchy details, but Warner has finally announced the trilogy of THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! films to be released on DVD on October 12th. The release will be called THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: THE COLLECTION and be a four-disc boxed set, with each feature on a...
I was able to pick up a copy of Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece SWEENEY TODD last night, and I still haven't recovered from the mind-blowing experience of watching this wonderful production again on DVD. This new release is truly a DVD "event" worth celebrating. I've had both a VHS and...
Haven't seen much press about this, and I don't think there has been anything posted elsewhere here, so I thought I'd bring this to the attention of HTF members: Warner has put together a DVD containing several Oscar-winning short subjects from their library that have not yet otherwise been...
This came through earlier this evening on one of the mailing lists I subscribe to..... All I can say is WOW!!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE GLORY OF GARLAND!!! Five Judy Garland Classics Debuting April 6 on DVD Highlighted by the 60th Anniversary of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS...
It is 2004, right? Well MGM has decided to turn the clock WAY back, because according to dvd file, they are about to release a slew of titles in PAN & SCAN only this April, including MAN OF LA MANCHA with Peter O'Toole and Judy Garland's last film I COULD GO ON SINGING. The irony here is that...
I'm shocked that there hasn't been one peep on this forum in regard to Warner Home Video's new release of George Cukor's superb classic THE WOMEN. This DVD looks amazing, and is stuffed with impressive extras. The film itself is one of the great classic comedies of all time, with definitive...
