I honestly believe they re-animated the whole movie! It looks like they made it yesterday! I truly do have a color TV!;) Keep it up Disney (at least until Lion King, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Alice In Wonderland and Little Mermaid are complete!)
Batman Beatle Juice (what's taking Tim B. so long to join the bandwagon?!) Wizard of Oz (I'm talking a Snow White, Citizen Kane, North By Northwest, Sleeping Beauty style of transfer!) Rain Man (the wait is killing me) Titanic (I want the case made of steel as well!) Several Disney titles...
DEFINATELY GO WITH THE ROCK!! You've never seen such beauty in a transfer. Twister All Leathal Weapons Fugitive Platoon First Blood (big improvement. Don't even think about Armageddon (and thanks not my hatred from Ben Affleck coming out either - CC didn't even put it in 16x9 enhanced!
Every DVD release should be at least 2 discs. 1 for the high bit movie - relative to length of movie - OAR and P&S (to please the variances of man) with DD and DTS tracks. The 2nd disc with extras. Life should be that simple. Is the movie is long (ee editions of LOTR trilogy, Godfather 2, etc)...
Could be possible Pete Jackson could put together a complete, unedited cut of the film on HD-DVD. 1 disc for 12 hours of LOTR (extended cuts of course) at standard DVD quality?
I've got mine on the way and can't freakin' wait. I'm also glad Disney decided to step up their Platinum release schedule. BTW - used DVD's for sale by clicking on the link below.
I tried the search to no avail, so if this has already been discussed, please provide me a link. Anyways, Mr. Harris is getting in on this one personally? His he starting from scratch? I suppose this will be the so-called "correct" version? If it is, I'm game.
Gentlemen, It seems that I have opened a can have worms with this one. I am not saying Criterion does a bad job on ALL of their discs, just seems like Akira's not getting good treatment of say...Alfred Hitchcock. I just expected alot more than what I am getting. 2nd, I never said I didn't...
In reference to the few Kurosawa films that I have and love... I just picke up Akira's Rashomon (these things are expensive, but I'll get to that in a second) and this thing looks worse than Seven Samaurai or The Hidden Fortress. I know it's a 50's film, but I've seen what others have done to...
Looking at the info from Digital Bits, it looks like they are going with the keep case. I love it when studios keep there series titles match up to match the previous (i.e. Panic Room & Signs)
My god, that oscar box is TOO HUGE. I hate when they tell me how good the movie is. It ruins the cover art. Daniel Day Lewis was the best acting I have seen in a long time! What other films has he done? He's got my vote for best supporting actor (I didn't think Paul Newman was that great...
DreamWorks has re-released all of the animated (Antz, Road To Eldorado, Chicken Run) for a "look us do aniamtion - hahah Disney". They're animation and story's are WAY better than Michael Eisner's lastest offering. I know now who was the true visionary at Disney. The K in SKG.
This is one of the most beautiful transfers on films I have seen in a long time. I hadn't watch it in years. It was like watching a brand new film (I literally forgot what this was about but I knew I liked it). Highly underrated film (but I have my own theories about that)
We shouldn't accept anything but a 9-disc set for the OT. 1 disc for the Original untouched verion, another for "his vision", and the last for special features. He has the power to charge what he wants for them, and pull a Disney by running limited runs and yanking them off the production line...
Damin: I said "in this case", not the vast majority of films. and yes you are right, I do have two options: not to buy that DVD - AS I SAID "And I will tell you that's the first and last DVD I buy like that" I am done with you.
Didn't see this when it came out but got part 2 Can someone tell me what the heck happened here. It started great (intense), then somewhere I lost it. I thought the action sequences where good, but the story got jumbled up; something about his family, a list, his boss being a fake, and the...
Kenneth -
Sum of All Fears is a great movie?? I guess you are title to your opinion;)
Nickey Foley -
yeah Matt Damon is a really good actor unlike is pop buddy Ben Affleck. Matt seems to pick is movies for content and subject matter and Ben is more the "flashy" type. I'm at the point...
Yes Richard Kim, those movies should be to released unaltered. I feel I shouldn't be forced to watch an altered film because a studio says so. But that's for another thread. This is on OT thread.
I am curious. Didn't Lucas have all this planned out in the beginning when he wrote all six epidsodes? I wasn't introduced (though heard of) to star wars around 1988-89 (I was born in the year the movie was made - 1977). But the tapes I have say episode 4 for a new hope (has it always said...
GL is CGI crazy. He ruined the Star Wars films. I like seeing the matte. Those where the special effects of the time. If George really wants to remake "his true vision", just reshoot the whole damn thing.
I say everyone get together and not buy the damn thing unless the original OT is released. The dollar is a powerful weapon (people are still bought and sold with it)
