Thanks, Tom. The back cover is very similar, however, I'm not sold yet. Alliance Atlantis has had a history of going the cheap route in comparison to the U.S. equivalents. If no one else knows for certain, I may just crack this open to find out myself. :)
Has anyone bought the Special Edition DVD of "The Kid Stays In The Picture" in Canada? The box doesn't list the features at all, but boasts "An Hour Of Controversial Star-Studded Extras" My main question is, does it have an audio commentary like the one in the U.S. does? Spine catalogue #...
Someone asked if there was any chance that the 3-disc version of the Canadian might be different from the 2-disc version. The answer is a definite 'no.' Confirmed. They are the same. Also, while I hesitate to bring this up in this forum, the vast majority of the DVD-buying public will...
Thanks Joseph for the final confirmation, and thanks Paul for the ghost effect examples. I timed the film, so there's no other possible explanation given all the evidence. It must be a PAL transfer.
OK, so just to be 100% sure, someone with the U.S. Universal please confirm that none of this: Production Notes: Q & A with Roman Polanski (Text only), Misc: The Warsaw Ghetto: Historical Background (Text only), Misc: Wladyslaw Szpilman biography, Production/Art Photos: 2 Posters and...
Hey Andrew, Joseph said there was no insert on his. Don't think there's meant to be one. Anyone find to the contrary? Can someone tell me the catalogue # (on the spine) of the U.S. Universal version? P.S. After looking at the Canadian transfer, I'd have to admit that the transfer...
OK, things just got a tad more interesting. The running time of the Canadian according to my time display is 142.36. (I rounded up to 143). The box on the Soundtrack edition lists 148 minutes, but the running time on the 2-disc set and the Soundtrack edition is the same. (There was no...
Considering the title streets today, I'm hoping someone will be able to document what EXACTLY is on the U.S. Universal release, so we can do a feature for feature comparison also. (Anyone in the U.S. able to oblige?) This is what is on the Canadian version 2 disc set: 143 Minutes - 24...
First of all, there's no need for alarm. The Canadian and U.S. versions are the same. Yes, the Canadian releases of JB and PF were delayed, but the official announcement came only a few days before the intended release date. But supplies are out there.
I don't know what Amazon.ca's problem...
Here's my take on it:
For director Rintaro’s stunning anime vision of Osamu Tezuka’s “Metropolis,” the DVD gets a little special something to go along with the unique film. A “Pocket” DVD. The three inch CD singles never quite took off the way their vinyl predecessors did, but nevertheless...
Same thing happened to me with JFK, way back when on VHS. Broken over 2 tapes.
My Mom was rushing us to get started... "This is 3 hours, I don't want to be up past midnight, let's go."
I rush into the room and she's already playing it. "What'd I miss?" "Nothing"
Half hour later... "Funny...
As long as we're talking eggs...
We have a pretty decent list, and none of these are lame eggs of DVD credit pages or trailers found in the "Recommendations" portion of a DVD.
Sexy Beast is a WAAAYY better flick, but you've got the genres bang on.
No problems that I had, playing on a Sony. Actually it's kind of a rare thing if a title won't play properly on a Sony, last one I can recall was Dinosaur, and it was just a momentary blip that didn't happen the second...
There may eventually be an American version on the distant horizon, but none in the works that I'm aware of. So those who are interested might find it worth importing.
Director Paul McGuigan, once a successful still photographer, makes his directorial debut with “Gangster No. 1.” A gritty...
Here's my take on the disc, and a personal fav to be sure. (No, there's no DTS by the way). So my bro gets the old copy, I keep the new, everyone's happy. I encourage those who got it before to share the joy, and start anew.
“Groundhog Day” Director Harold Ramis must be Buddhist. Or Jewish. Or...
I have a question to put forth to you fine gents.
Someone said there'd be 35 minutes of backstage footage, but a pal o' mine can't seem to access it. Did you guys find it?
Any help much appreciated.
Hey Edwin,
Here's our look at the disc here
It's an Alliance Atlantis release (Canada only) and will street this Tuesday. (Dec 18)
I don't see any info anywhere about an American release as yet. Anyone else can help Edwin on that?

Here's Mike's take on the Stunt Man. (favourable)
There's two versions (of course)
Stunt Man, Limited Edition, 2 disc set
and
The Stunt Man, Single Disc Set
The main difference is, on the 2 disc set, the second disc contains the 114 min documentary. (and no full frame version, minor error...
I pretty much agree with Pierre, if you have to pick one, the Superbit is the way to go.
The deleted scene "CODA" on Gattaca (first disc) is quite good though, and I think if nothing else, the inclusion of that on the Superbit DVD would be the best of both worlds, and I'm sure they could afford...
OK, "Moulin Rouge" is now the official new leader for Easter Eggs on DVD. This title has fifteen easter eggs, and at least three of them are next to impossible to stumble upon.
At a Moulin Rouge release party in Toronto, they gave us a cheat sheet and martinis for everyone.

Give the guy a $500 gift certificate to his favourite department store (as a courtesy) and buy him lunch and send him on his way.
If he's not interested in doing it for free, leave him out of it. That goes for everyone.
I agree that Ahnuld's commentaries are not among the best, but 75K...
