    My receiver is weird

When I use any PCM source there is alway's plenty of bass but when I'm listening to DTS or DD tracks on any music DVD I've tried so far the bass level is alway's very weak. My receiver is very weird I know that when it receives a stereo PCM track it should make no difference what the LFE level...

    My receiver is weird

It seems to be a consistant problem with all music discs, my receiver has the option for (-10db,0db, or off) for the LFE attenuation. I always set it to 0 accept when listening to PCM then I alway's turn it off.

    My receiver is weird

It seems like whenever I am watching a music related DVD (rock in rio etc..) I have to turn my Subs up 10 db. Is this normal? My receiver is a Marantz SR4200.

First 'Rush In Rio' DVD Review

I don't know if your amp has it or not but on my Marantz there is an LFE attenuater, and if it is set to off or -10 5.1 mixes will lack bass. On this DVD I found that the 5.1 mix had maybe more bass than the stereo PCM. PS: the best part of this whole DVD is when the drum solo starts, my...

First 'Rush In Rio' DVD Review

The first time I tried this little trick it messed up my DVD player and it wouldn't let me stop the disc  I was really dissapointed it wasn't anomorphic:frowning: I will be getting the anomorphic one next spring then it will be all better:) It's a great disc anyhow though, once again Neil...

Vifa PL and MG series (what's the difference)

I did notice that the Scan Speak starts to roll off under 2khz where as the Focal continues to be flat to 1khz. Is that why the Focal requires more attenuation? If I used a fourth order network @ 1750 hz would that provide enough attenuation?

Vifa PL and MG series (what's the difference)

These are the specs from PE Scan speak 9500 FS 550 hz Xmax +/- 0.4mm Focal TC120TD5 FS 812 hz Xmax +/- 0.5mm The Fs on the focal is a little higher than the Scan Speak but still over 1 octave lower than an XO @ 1750 hz. I'm not sure if those xmax's are correct because the specs...

Vifa PL and MG series (what's the difference)

I was hoping to keep the component count to a minimum if possible. I was modeling the crossover after Wayne J's Eros design it seemed to provide good performance with few components. The XO diagram I posted of course is pretty hard to read I'm not quite sure how to post the graphs and circut...

    sub amp question

I wouldn't use that amp:thumbsdown: if there is a 30 hz cut built on you will lose your subsonics (not good) if you put a boost on it at that frequency it will sound very boomy and will cause your amp to clip really bad plus 150 watts isn't really enough for a tempest in the first place.

Vifa PL and MG series (what's the difference)

I've been fooling around with Lsp Cad and was wondering if you thought I was on the right track for a 2 way XO using the 7" MG Midbass and a Focal TC120TD5 _(0.9mh)______________________ >>>>>>>>>>>(1.0 ohm) Woofer Woofer >>>>>>>>>>>(30uf) ______________________________...

Vifa PL and MG series (what's the difference)

I've been wondering what the diffences are between the PL and MG series drivers? Is it simply a question of quality or are the two better suited for different applications. Has any body used the MG series drivers in any projects?

Will a tempest 15" be a good match for a PE 250watt amp

Well I'm sure it will suffice It just won't have Quite the headroom.

    Show off your sub!!!

I hope that Adire puts out an insane 18" driver someday:D (Think Tumult only BIGGER!!!)

Will a tempest 15" be a good match for a PE 250watt amp

The 250 watt PE amp will do it, but a Tempest can handle more juice than that especially if you are running it in a vented enclosure. I would check out the the QSC RMX850 for a single vented Tempest or other prosound amps if you really want to hear what it can do. The 850 is a little more than...

    Tempest to AV15

The only way the AV-15 is a step up is that it has a whopping 7mm's more Xmax. (whoopy ding:D ) I doubt you would even hear that 1.5 db difference. If I had to choose between the two drivers I would take the Tempest over the AV-15 anyday! That slight upgrade in Xmax isn't worth the extra $55.00

    Tempest to AV15

I don't have much experience comparing different drivers but it seems to me that the extra 7mm of xmax won't really make awhole lot of difference in the long run, you might gain an extra 1.5 db of output if that. I think you would be better off getting a second Tempest witch would give you an...

    Old Pradigm Sub

I have an old paradigm SB-100 passive sub and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the driver is in it. It's a 10" dual voice coil driver and it would probably work well for a small sub for a computer sound system but I would like to remove from it's bandpass enclosure and build a good...

Dayton DVC and Tempest, the same ?

Don't get the Dayton the phase response of the Tempest and the Dayton won't be the same! DO NOT cut corners to save a few bucks! If the phase of the drivers don't line up and they are opperating together you will get dips in the response curve.

    Shielded 8" subwoofer?

How about a Hi-Vi M8N its about $50 bucks at parts express and will play very low in a vented box. Vas 1.88 cubic ft Qts 0.45 Fs 29 hz Xmax 5.8 mm If you give each driver about 2.5 cubic ft to work with and a port tuning of 20 hz you would have an F6 of about 20 hz wich would easily be...

Crossover design software (good ones for cheap)

What do you guy's recomend for good programs that are affordable as well? I was looking into Xover 3 Pro from Parts Express and it looks like it has everything I'm looking for but I thought I'd better ask before making any purchases. I also want it to be user friendly if possible.;) P.S. I...

What I'd like to see out of Adire...

What I don't like about the horn tweets is the fact they generally have to be large and that makes using them in a coaxial application impossible unless your woofer has a huge pole peice that can hold a large horn tweeter.
