Is it worth it to buy the Animal version of a Dyson upright even if you don't have any pets? I live alone and am a bit of a clean freak so was just wondering if the Animal version cleans even better than the non-animal version.
Ah, I see. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks! I still don't like the "reversing time" element in either movie, however. It's just a cheap way of ending things and cheats the audience. It's a deus ex machina of the worst kind, on the same level as Bobby Ewing waking up at the season finale...
I just watched the Donner cut and must say I prefer it to the theatrical version. The only thing I hated was the ending, where Superman reverses time and changes history. This is exactly what he did in Superman I and it feels like a cheap ending. Now, I realize this is how Superman II was...
Great review, Ron. It answered a lot of questions I had about the format. I'm a little disapponted that you went out and bought a new, HDMI TV set so soon, however. Now who's going to represent us poor blokes who are still stuck with analog, component-inputs-only TV sets? ;) But seriouly...
I'm not buying these if they're non-anamorphic. I've written a short and polite letter to Lucasfilms. I suggest we all do the same. Probably won't change Lucas's mind but at least he'll be aware. It's the least we can do.
Will the format war between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD be more like the one that happened between DVD-A and SACD than the one between Beta and VHS? In other words, will both formats fail to catch on and simply end up being niche products for only those who have a lot of disposable income? I have a...
Ron, you have my support in any boycott of the two competing formats until a unified solution is found, and until component inputs in older HDTVs are supported.
Yoda "lost" to Sidious the same way (and, as it turns out, for similar reasons) Obi-Wan "lost" to Darth Vader in ANH: to help out Luke. In ANH, Obi-Wan lets Vader "kill" him so that he can be more powerful and help Luke later on during the Death Star trench scene at the end ("Use the Force...
Yoda is greater than Sidious. Sidous just beat him because Yoda was old and past his prime. It's like when Rocky Marciano KO'd Joe Louis. Does anyone seriously think Marciano would have a chance against the Brown Bomber in his prime?
One thing I can't figure out is why Vader is content to be the Number 3 guy in ANH. In that movie, he is clearly taking orders from Tarkin, the Number 2 guy behind the Emperor (who is strangely conspicuous by his absence--oh dear, I hope Lucas doesn't digitally insert him in upcoming Super...
Anyone have any experience with these things? Do they work or are they snake oil? http://www.lentek.com/Main/Main.asp?...&ContentID=37& http://www.lentek.com/Main/Main.asp?...&CategoryID=3& Just wondering...
Well, I went in tonight and finally bought the disc. The two copies on the shelf were exactly the same two copies that were there two nights ago. How do I know? I asked the clerk if they had sold any copies of "How to Steal a Million" since they got them in, and he said no. I can understand...
No need to apologize, Stephen. I, too, was a little frustrated last night. I mean, I had the product in my hand and was willing to pay, and it was only 5 minutes to closing. Ah well... I'll just pick it up at a later date. I mean, it wasn't exactly a title I was dying for, anyway. I just felt...
I wasn't suggesting the person who put the discs out should be fired or anything. It's a mistake anyone could make--we're all human. I merely said the blame was on them because their mistake started the whole chain of events. Some have suggested I buy elsewhere because of this, but I'm a very...
Thanks for all the input, everyone. I'm glad to know I did the right thing and allowed the cashier to do her job. For what it's worth, the DVD was on the shelf for at least an hour before closing (that's how long it takes me sometimes to choose my discs). Also, the cashier didn't know the DVD...
Re-read my post. I didn't ask that girl anything. I let her do her job. I was merely asking what others would have done in my place. And I wasn't blaming her--I was merely annoyed at the store's policies. But now that you have so rudely informed me of the normal policies of video stores, I...
I was just in Futureshop tonight, and they had the "How to Steal a Million" DVD on the shelf. It was 5 minutes to closing, so I decided to buy it. When I got to the cashier, she told me I couldn't buy it until tomorrow! Being a non-confrontational type of guy, I meekly nodded my head and...
Wasn't AITF taped live? Maybe this is why some misframing occurred. The camera operator probably wasn't monitoring the framing at those exact moments. They may have tried to do a retake with better framing, but decided that the earlier performances were better and therefore kept them instead...
Thanks everyone for their responses! I knew I could get some answers here!:emoji_thumbsup: David VP, you are so observant. I didn't realize that image was also on the first season DVD package. I will have to check mine again later--it's been quite a while since I've viewed season one. I...
