Margules Audio ACRH-1 Relatively exotic, beautiful and with extremely good performance for what it is, at a decent price Audi S3 Onkyo TXSR500 (Yeah, Im more in to stereo) Modest with all the goodies, utilitary, relatively fast Chrysler PT Crusier Turbo
Ok, I have to admit, like BruceD says, that the tittle of the thread is wrong. It is a preamp designed for MUSIC reproduction, that can be used for HT applications. In any case, I think what is important is to remind that not everybody is happy with the musical abilities of their HT setups...
Lower end receivers tend to be really "secretive" regarding their bass managment specs. I own to low cost receivers, an Onkyo TXSR500 and a Kenwood VR6050. Only the Onkyo have crossover cut settings (80-100-120Hz) but it does not state if the cut is working also on the sats. It can be presumed...
What does a decoder have to do with the quality of sound? I mean, the components on the preamplifier, in it sound stages, are way more important than the decoding circuit, which, by the way, should be standard. If you were talking about a DAC I would have to agree, but afaik, a decoder is...
Well, it doubles as a high quality HT solution, but it is designed to listen SACD and DVD-A without "the fuzzy sound of electronics", so to speak, of traditional receivers/processors. All I can say is that it sounds like nothing else I have listened to for music (even costly processors).
DanaA, Yes I remember, the little ADE24, hehe. Nice to see you (your letters, this is). Elinor, Tubes?? Who mention anything about tubes?? :D you will get all the flat response you need (nor that is not possible with tubes, but thats another subject), check the specs, you will be...
The Daleth is an extraordinary equipment, it is a 5.1 preamplifier designed to hear music but doubles as a High End HT equipment. It can work with an Aleph 5 channel amplifier and it sounds like charm. Best I have listened in a while. You can take a look at them here: www.margules.com
You mean for HT applications? yes, both of them will be good. If you are talking about a dedicated system for music (which can double as a High End HT) then, by all means, look at www.margules.com and take a look at the Daleth preamplifier coupled with an Aleph amplifiers. I have yet to hear...
IMO, in this discussions the car analogy works well. Suppose you have a small cheap domestic that happens to be very lightweight. The analogy runs when it is assumed that the small car will always accelerate and stop faster than a heavier car (assuming both can do 20MPH) because of their mass...
Hey Edward, those are nice reviews. Have you encounter a room that was "boomy" even with a nice, expensive subwoofer? I have, and also rooms in which even a so called "slow" subwoofer would play "tight and fast". That is how I reached some of my conclusions, testing several subs in several...
It is interesting to see how fast this discussions about "fast bass" degenerate in extreme conceptual attempts to explain what everybody have in their heads. Strange is that, like what happens with cable discussions, everybody is stubborn and thinks the only correct answer is the one he have...
Max Well, of course. And you know why in the first instance? Because there is no objetive meaning for "musical" regarding a sub, all we have is a mix of complex answers from many people, that in the end are just opinions, hardly anything of objective value. In any case, I sustain my...
... what makes a sub musical?? Size of the driver? NO Its group delay? NO If it is ported or sealed? NO All those factors are (relatively) irrelevant. The single most important and easily discernible (by our own ears) is: THE ROOM Once we have a good room there is another...
I finally bought them. As the reviews say, they are amazing considering its size. OF COURSE they don't sound like larger speakers, but are well balanced and the sub is incredible good for the money. So good in fact that I will sell my Infinity IL100S, because their 8 inch sub bests the Infinity...
Eric Thanks for the comparo, what about the sound? some people say they don't listen to any difference between both systems. Im interested specifically in mid bass (the transition from the sub to the sats) at around 90Hz to 150Hz and in the lower end reach of the 8 inch sub (to my knowledge...
Thing is that I dont need that volume to be happy, but I do like decent mid bass. I will try to listen both systems before buy. Oh, and I have plenty subs around for the task hehe, I love subwoofers
Phil, my other choice are these: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...rs-8-2000.html apparently, they can do 80Hz, (they are rated at +/-2dB by Velodyne, and I think they do not "inflate" specs) and would cost me the same as the Take 5s but without a subwoofer. As your site (by the way good...
Sorry Phil, but thats irrelevant when I Cant buy the JBL's, as I clearly stated before. As much as I wanted to have more mids, my options are cheap HtiB systems, a set of used CHT Velodyne satellites and the Take 5+1s
Im also interested in the difference. Oh and Greg, the link to Geocities is completly unecesary! that guy is just trying to make you buy the JBLs, but some of us does not have the chance... so, the Energy Take 5 are still a good choice for us! Lots of awards of respected publications weight more...
Thanks for the answer. Im looking for good mini speakers for a small HT application. I want something way better than the little ones that come with HTiB systems. In your opinion, will these qualify as some of the best mini speakers available? As you said, construction is very solid, and they...
Does anyone have experience with these speakers? I tried a search in the forum but couldnt find anything. The only review I could find on the internet is this: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...rs-8-2000.html All info is well received!
Well done. If you say they are not REALLY apart from a Tempest, then they should sound good enough. I wonder if this will allow more people to use (in certain circumstances), car drivers to fill up with bass their home theaters. ;)
