I bought one of the original SVS subs a few years ago. They had an upgrade driver available and I jumped on it, and this driver has been sitting in the box ever since and is in perfect condition. I think it is an "ISD" driver, I don't have the specs, but Tom from SVS said that if anyone needs...
""Heck, I have 2 Porsches I don't even drive, just can't bring myself to sell em'."" OK, lets make a deal, I will purchase a plan ticket, fly out, get a taxi to take me to your house, I will give a secret knock and you say "come-in" after than all you have to do is say "the keys are on the...
I like the way this thing is going (lets not turn it into a slam B&W-fest like they so often do, but keep it a "Dream system" thread. that said, my top systems auditioned Revel Salon/Studios with Levinson pre and amp B&W Nautilus with Mac pre and amp Totem (forgot model) with SimAudio...
Yohan, as you can tell, everybody has totally different tastes on 1 hand you get people saying B&Ws are "laid back" (I have actually NEVER heard that one before) to "too Bright" you get people who "love em" and others who "hate em" (btw, in all my research, even from people that DON'T...
don't look for any long heart felt reponses to this thread, people are affraid that by the time they type it in, you will start another thread saying "anyone upgrade AVM20 to Lex MC12????"-this is a TIC post (sort of)
bob, good point with lack of bass management with some SACD and DVD-a discs a more full range speaker was a must for me I listened to the 805 sigs, they sounded great, I am not sure they sounded better than the 804s though. I have an SVS in my system so I certainly understand the...
bob, but a set of 805 sigs and a "good sub" is going to run you way more than just a pair of 804s (plus with the 804s you get teh FST driver). also if you listen to true 2 channel music without processing, the sub does you no good. I like the sigs, but I bought 804s for a few of the...
WOW, I was going to come on here and say how much I love the sound of the Rotel and that 3 friends I have in the industry feel like it is the best piece under $3000 (retail) etc, etc....infact I had a parasound before and I think it sounds better/cleaner.
BUT, sounds like that would eb stupid...
I use to own the CDM7NTs, I recently upgraded to the 804s (only b/c I got an AWESOME deal on them) the 804s are a bit better, but not $1500 better, imho. I still loved my cdm7's a great speaker.
congrats on great speakers, I almost got a pair (my finalists came to the B&W 804 and the Revels-the Revels are AWESOME!!!!). My uncle has a Revel Studio/salon set up that is soooo nice to listen to.
now just sit back and enjoy the music (there is a coorelation between me recieving new gear...
btw, Sean I recently was "WOW'd" by a couple systems, a Revel studio/saloon-TagMclaren system and a Conrad johnson/Totem Hawk system. Both sounded great and much better than the systems I hear at circuit city, I would guess I will trust my ears over some "theory" some guy gives on this web site.
another PRO-B&W thread becoming a ANTI-B&W thread, gee, status quo for HTF lately, I am starting to think I am in the wrong place (maybe antiB&W.com would be a more appopriate title). I am not sure why I consistantly see the same names pop up giving B&W bad reviews. I guess when I see a post...
Larry, now I understand your taste, I agree, we don;t have the same. I received a pair of Vandys from my father after he upgraded to B&Ws ("upgrade" is in the eye of the beholder). I like the speakers, BUT to be honest after comparing them to the B&Ws, I like the B&Ws so much more I couldn't...
Larry sounds good It sounds as though we have different tastes (I like Wilsons, Revels, B&Ws and some Totems and theils) I guess I get tired of everytime B&W is brought up on this site, people have to tear them down when the origional POST never had ANYTHING to do with speakers sound...
I guess what I am trying to say is that it is fairly shallow for people that have low end B&W stuff to say B&W is the best stuff out there .....JUST as it is for people who have speakers that cost 6 figures saying "b&w is junk" and they don't make anything that sounds good.
larry, it would be foolish to say that EVERY one in high end audio feel this way. for dealers that sell B&W they love it, it sells well and has good sound, for dealers that don't they HATE B&Ws and say they are over rated (what do you expect them to say, being a B&W dealer is a highly...
Patrick, that is an AWESOME deal. My dad owns the CDM9NTs (I use to run the CDM7NTs, until I upraded to 804s), the 9s are GREAT speakers. You might be in a bit of a bind. I guess you need to look at it like this-what are the chances (after auditioning so many speakers so far) that the Rockets...
