*** Official STAR TREK (2009) Discussion Thread

I came into the movie spoiler-free and with lowered expectations (I had heard this movie was more sci-fi than science fiction), and while it was indeed more sci-fi than science fiction, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was entertaining, refreshing, and FUN. Set in an alternate universe...

    Heroes: Pre-Season 3 Webisodes

Like many of you, I was bummed that the fallout of the recent Writer's Strike brought about an early end to Season Two of Heroes. But with the string of excellent superhero films that were released this summer, I had to check on NBC's site for any new developments for Heroes' third installment...

*** Official THE INCREDIBLE HULK Discussion Thread

Don't worry, The Captain was not shown, although Emil Blonsky does receive small dosages of the Super Soldier Serum (there was even a reference to the scientist, Dr. Josef Reinstein, who developed the serum, on a cannister label) to take on the Hulk. Emil Blonsky's "first round" with the Hulk...

*** Official THE INCREDIBLE HULK Discussion Thread

I enjoyed the film today. I enjoyed the many references; Huge amounts to the 70's TV show (even the Lonely Man theme!), Captain America, Iron Man, the Leader (Sterns). I would love to see the Hulkbusters in a future film.

*** Official VANTAGE POINT Discussion Thread

This was a pretty good movie. I have one question: Was Dennis Quaid's character aware he was guarding a double? If doubles of POTUS are actually used in real life (how plausible would this be in real life), how much dedication do Secret Service agents put into the protection of the double as...

Terry Gilliam's Adventures of Baron Munchausen 2-disc SE - 04/088

I just saw the movie on one of our cable HD channels recently, and I thought to myself, "they need to release a proper version on DVD already", and here's the great news! That first cover is hideous... At least all three are better than the current DVD I've got!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

I don't know about you guys, but when I hear about Raimi film, in my mind "The Chin" is sure to follow. Who would he play? Bard of Dale? I can see it now: Bard (played by Campbell), as he lets loose his arrow on Smaug: Gimme some sugah, baby! Teehee! :) Gotta go with Del Toro though as my choice...

    Life season 1 thread

I just checked the DVR desciptions, and it looks like that Monday's episode is the first half of a two-parter, while Wednesday's episode is the conclusion, so make sure to not miss Monday's episode.

But wait! Think about this for a second: If the bomb had gone off in New York as Linderman wanted, would there have been a mutated version of the Shanti Virus crossing over to the general population? Which is better? Destroy 0.07% of the population with the bomb, or destroy 93% of the population...

Anyone catch the japanese banners/standards hanging on the wall as Peter and Caitilin enter the building? Interesting who this Monroe person could be. Peter knows him, and the Company's looking for him. Finally, the story is kicking in... probably all a result of that kiss...

    24: Season Seven

I think the "apology" by Keifer in front of the trailer unofficially confirms it. I had read that the writers had contemplated revealing Tony's return at the end of last season as a tease to salvage what they could, but in the end decided not to and just scuttle S6 and save the reveal to start...

Mohinder is a doofus. He was easily led on all of last season by essentially everyone, and I had high hopes of him breaking out of that mold at the start of this season by going "undercover". But he's back to having the wool pulled over his eyes. I don't believe for a second that the Company is...

I'm glad that Papa Parkman was able to "push" his son to further develop his abilities. I always thought Matt's ability was bit underdeveloped as "just a mind reader". With Matt now able to send out thoughts instead of just reading them (although in its infancy), he's already leapfrogged ahead...

The nice thing about the pic is that it is a group shot. Molly never specifically said that Matt's father was the boogeyman, just that he was in the pic.

    Journeyman - season 1 thread

Theres' something more going on with this "square" relationship between Dan, Livia, Katie, and Jack that the series creators are letting on. What I found interesting about last night's episode was the trip back to '95 when Dan was being chased down by the beat cop. Was that beat cop actually...

That happened in one of the best episodes of last season, "Company Man", when Matt and Ted hold the Bennets hostage in their house, accompanied with flashbacks of HRG's past.

Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

I was anticipating seeing this film in the theaters, but plans never worked out for me to see it there. I just saw it this weekend on DVD, and damnit, I should have made the extra effort to catch it on the big screen. What a mind-blowing experience. The Road to Awe indeed. I haven't undergone...

So far, all of Mystery Sock's paintings have come to pass. The problem with each of the paintings is that without a specific detailed description of the paintings, they are subject to interpretation ("A picture is worth a thousand words"). Currently, there are only two paintings depicting a...

Another reason could be that he had his powers nullified when he received the scar. While attacking Homeland Security, Peter and Hiro warn each other about the Haitian as if they've dealt with him (maybe fought) during a previous encounter. It may be possible that during the fiver year period...

One thing that isn't stated (or at least I missed it) is the gap of time between Hiro stabbing Syler and the actual explosion. My theory of Hiro stabbing "Peter posing as Syler" is based on the assumption that the stabbing occurs just prior to (maybe triggering?) the explosion. If Hiro attacks...

Ok, here's my reasoning for the "Syler with regeneration but Claire is alive" confusion (I posted this on another thread): In the Future timeline... Peter admitted to Niki that he was the bomb, not Sylar. Peter mentioned that he was posing as Sylar to place the blame on the psycho (I guess...

Can the Haitian selectively nullify others' powers? I was wondering how Parkman was able to mind read while Hiro was nullified, all while in the presence of the Haitian. Who was the woman with Bennet, the one with the bullet in the head? I was originally thinking Illusionist, but Syler...

    battlestar galactica grainyness

I just saw a HD version of "The Passage" on the Universal HD channel, and the show was so grainy it looked worse than the regular SD version on the SCI-FI channel. If the graininess is purposely done in post, I think it sucks. Just plain awful.
