    Marantz SR4300 Power/Standby Problems

I bought a refurbished Marantz SR4300 about a month ago and it is great except for one problem, it won't stay on. I'm thinking it is a heat safety mode that cuts power and puts the unit into standby. If I have the unit on for a period of time, if will just go into standby and I can't turn it...

HTPC to use as music server for home theater?

I typically rip my wife's CDs she buys to the computer because in a matter of minutes she tends to destroy CDs. I basically want to be able to listen to all my ripped music(about 40GBs worth) through my home theater. I have no desire for a full blown HTPC, just something that can allow me to...

    your favorite car-care products

Go to http://www.autopia.org If you have the money, get a Porter Cable Random Orbital Buffer. Just ask the question over there and you'll see what I'm talking about. Don't get a cheap Waxmaster or cheap Home Depot Ryobi one. Get a Porter Cable.

    Unbeleivable...40 peices of junk mail...

As for pop ups, the pop up blocker and firewall that comes with Norton's Internet Security blocks almost every pop up that I used to get from some other message boards I go to.

    your favorite car-care products

Everybody here has mentioned some good stuff. For the car itself, I recommend you drive down to a local Harley shop and pick up S100 Paint Cleanser and S100 Carnauba Paste Wax. This stuff is the EASIEST wax I've ever used and gives cars tremendous depth in color. Go to http://www.autopia.org/...

    My shower handle is reversed!

As another has said, the plumbing is just reversed and its easy to fix. When I was in high school, my house had it reversed for every single faucet. We got used to turning things on "backwards" but when I moved out I got my arse kicked with either scorching hot water or ice cold water for the...

USAToday reviews the 2004 WRX STi

The front end looks almost like a cross between the Sentra and a Corolla. I'd kill to have one but if it was the STi and the Evo...I'd take the Evo in a heartbeat, I just dig its styling more, I still like boxey (sp?) looking cars over overly curvy cars.

You're not from here, are you?

Like someone else said, having moved around alot I've met people from all walks of life and if I need a place to stay in most any given region of this country and Europe, I'm good to go. Being in the military (Air Force) helps too...the relationships you make with the most random unlike-to-you...

    Question about DIY Interconnects

Thats what I was getting at. I'm gonna be buying a bunch of the cable and experiment with it so if I mess it up I'm not gonna lose any sleep....I'm just trying to get a feel for how tough and/or thick the wire and its shielding is...think I'll go out today and experiment with it. Quick...

    Question about DIY Interconnects

I have some mean wire strippers for 4 guage speaker wire...couldn't I just strip the wire down to what the Canare strippers do? I mean all they really do is fold back the layers to a certain point for the crimp style connectors to hold right? I don't really see why I couldn't do that...

    Question about DIY Interconnects

I'm planning on building a set or two of interconnects here soon for my car audio. I've been through 1 or 2 of the sites that people have put up but it never answered a question of mine. The tools, are they absolutely necessary? I understand they make it alot easier to do but what if I'm not...

    Whats the word on Tannoys?

I've done searches here, AVS, HTSpot. Nobody talks about Tannoy at all. I'm planning on buying an entire setup minus DVD player. I talked to my dad about good music speakers, as he was in the audio groove like 15 years ago or so and he mentioned Tannoy as one of them. Now I saw a review of...

Will my super old receiver run a SVS?

Its actually like 6-7 years old, black body and all (looks modern at least, hehe) Is 2 channel with A/B switching and a mini equalizer control. How much power is needed to run a 25-31 real cleanly, I'm really concerned about boominess and clean bass.

Will my super old receiver run a SVS?

I have an old Pioneer SX-1900 stereo receiver, I have no idea what the specs are, but I was wondering if I can run an SVS off this, or do I need a dedicated amp? If it doesn't work, I'm gonna get the HSU VTF-2 most likely. Is this sub pretty tight and musical like I hear the SVS is? I plan to...
