I just got this from amazon.it yesterday, It looks and sounds great! One questions, though. The opening credits are windowboxed. Is there a reason for that?
Well, after almost exactly FOUR MONTHS OF WAITING, I finally received my copy of HIGH HEELS and, I hate to say, that it's disappointing.
I've been a huge fan of the MOD products from Warner Archive, Sony and MGM, wherein we finally get oft-requested movies that might not have huge sales in the...

Thanks Mike and Ron. Yeah, our chatting on the board morphed into AIM-ing, emails and then (whenever I went into Manhattan) meeting up. As to his absence, Patrick really got involved in journalism and reviewing theatre and that took alot of focus away from the HTF, although we'd still talk...
Hey Everyone- If it wasn't for HTF, I would've never met Patrick almost ten years ago and formed a friendship that grew from a love of film into a full-fledged friendship over the years. He hasn't posted here in a little while, although I'm sure many frequent posters will remember his love...
Awesome news! With Lansbury back on Broadway in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, it probably should've been released a little sooner, but I can't wait (although I'm not believing this until I have it in my grubby little hands come september).

AMC also give you unlimited drinks and popcorn as well as in & out priviledges. I've been doing it for the past three years and will do it again this year. I wanted to see Milk and Slumdog one more time on the big screen, so this'll be the perfect opportunity. They give a fifteen minute...

This is a great thread! My all-time favorite is "Do You Hear What I Hear?" by Vanessa Williams My least favorite is the "Christmas Shoes" song. That thing is so treacly it makes my teeth hurt!
I was recently at a performance of "The Road To Mecca" here in DC and was talking about this with my companion. We both the the play was good and well-performed but it didn't deserve the full standing O that the majority of the audience (over 80% from what we could see) gave it.
1.33 Academy is the original ratio I recall seeing this in theaters during the last re-release (1990 or thereabouts) and I distinctly remembered wondering why the aspect ratio was square-shaped and not 1.85:1, thereby filling the screen. Rafael.

I have to second your rave, Sam. I loved loved loved "Bender's Big Score" and can't wait to watch it again. It has the same intricateness of plotting and heart that made me love the series so much. And then there's Nibbler on a gerbil
to top things off. Rafael.
I was thinking it was going to go the way it did, with the inmates falling in love, but it was also a great way to show how much Earl's evolved from his first encounter with a gay man in the first episode of the first season. And I loved how no-one came to arrest Randy. :D Rafael.
The first thought to me was "Amelie" as well, Derek. And, while I thought it was almost a blatant rip-off of it (the fairy tale narration, whimsical romance, exaggerated camera angles) it still charmed me entirely. I hope they do keep it in it's world but try to be less "Amelie-esque" and...
Yes, it was the extra UK skit for that episode. I found that muppetcentral.com has an extensive episode guide that lists each bit and states which one is the UK skit. V. informative. Rafael.
I caught this when I was in Barcelona back in April and really enjoyed it. Actually, I thought it had better pacing than "28 Days Later." Boyle really brings the paranoia/suspense level here. It reminded me so much of "Alien." (In a good way). Rafael.
What I think Bill Condon geniously crafted was a perfect spoken-word adaptation of the sung-through parts of the musical. Nothing rhymes and the language flows realistically (IMO) Not at all what they did with "Rent" and just spoke the words as written. I still think this is a kick@ss...
Clearly the prison scene was a reference to Battlestar Galactica and it took me a little while to realise the latin hymn was being sung to the tune of "Here comes peter cottontail." Hysterical. Rafael.
I also got the plane rescue/DVD poster and *really really* wanted the "looking at earth" poster (actually that was the reason I sent it in), so it was pretty disappointing, but I really love the S:TM imagery alot, so that'll be framed soon. Rafael.
