if there’s one thing i learned, it’s that the same rules apply. no movie is going to make it if it doesn’t have a good story and good acting...
lmao ... i *completely* forgot about this thread.
yes ... i am back ... fear me as never before ... for while i was away i have grown!
into what i have no clue ...
is zen still around???
what exactly is the glass defect issue?
as for the stuck pixels, apple has a "pre-determined" number of pixels and sub-pixels that it considers within spec. if they are still going to go ahead and repair the issue, i think you're sort-of being hooked up. it's also very cool of you to allow...
i assume you're just talking about dvd playback?
two that i really like:
1. widows media player classic
2. vlc media player
both of them don't require any additional codecs, which is nice.
how much does it cost to attend these events? i'm not necessarily interested in any of the panels, etc. just walking around, checking out the booths, etc.
exactly what i needed to know ... thx guys!
ps mike: i haven't gotten into BD yet ... waiting for my old-arse sony 720p RPTV to die before i make the jump.
so it looks like there's several versions, including a much maligned pan&scan version (which i'll obviously skip). but from what i can tell, there was an anamorphic version released in 2001, but another in 2005? and it looks like one version actually cropped the top & bottom to make a "fake"...
lol ... wuttup guys! sorry to thread-jack this one.
i've been mostly hanging out over at tcf (tivocommunityforum) ... some nice folks there. but, i've always wondered what's going on here .... i'm glad i stopped by and said howdy!
btw, did anybody ever post a "whatever happened to ted" post...
title: wild hogs rating: d comments: ugh ... i think i laughed out loud twice ... maybe three times. but, my wife loved it and i enjoyed hearing her laugh. that's about all i can about this movie.
title: the lookout rating: a comments: i thoroughly enjoyed this movie. i thought the script and acting were top notch - i especially enjoyed the lead roles (bridges' was great). the movie was well paced with a great finale. i thought the lead guy was menacingly wonderful. definitely check...
title: hot fuzz rating: c comments: i enjoyed this okay, but i found it a bit long and tiresome. i think part of my enjoyment stemmed from the people i watched it with ... their laughter was infectious. it had a few original jokes and the chemistry between the leads was just as enjoyable as...
title: smokin' aces rating: b comments: there wasn't anything i haven't seen before, but it was well executed. i did think the build-up to the hotel raid was nicely paced and edited and the motely cast of characters (while stereotypical) were still interesting to watch. piven does a pretty...
title: borat rating: c comments: well, i guess i was expeecting more, what with all the buzz and stuff. there was a few moments of "oh my gawd" hilarity and a few moments of stupidity (not in a good way) ... but overall i didn't think it was all that. i'm glad i didn't pay to watch it...
title: night at the museum rating: c comments: a solid c. not the worst movie i've seen, but there was nothing special (story, fx, acting) to push it above the ordinary. it made for a decent rental though.
title: the last kiss rating: c comments: pretty much a by-the-book movie. zach is always charming to watch, but there wasn't really anything innovative or different about this movie. it wasn't horrible and fine for cable, but i would say garden state is a better effort.
title: the bourne ultimatum rating: b comments: i enjoyed this so much, i almost gave it an A. i distinctly remember how much i enjoyed the second one and hearing it's the same director ... i was anxious to see this one. i was not disappointed. what really impressed me was the pacing ... i...
title: the host rating: b comments: pretty entertaining action/monster flick. i found the lead characters endearing, complete with believable quirks and flaws. the monster looked a bit too cgi-ish, but it didn't bother me that much. definitely worth watching!
title: transformers rating: b comments: exactly what i expected -- lots of kick ass fluff! some of the best effects i've seen in a while ... the last time i was that blown away was when i saw jurassic park. heck, even the throw away story and actors (although the young leads weren't bad)...
title: dracula (1931) rating: b comments: i can't think of too many movies i've seen from this period, but this was certainly entertaining to watch. it sure seems campy now, but i can see how it must have blown audiences away back in the day. i just loved those bela lugosi stares ... awesome...
welp, with me starting a new job, i don't have the luxury of working from home anymore. so i'm not sure how much more i'll be posting/following this thread ... but i'll try my best. for sure though ... my movie count is going to go wayyy down. :frowning: ---- title: knocked up rating: b...
adam, thx for the review of mysterious skin ... i almost forgot about it, but it's in my queue now. :) h - let me know what you thought of the proposition ... i thought it was one of the best movies i watched last year. ---- title: looking for comedy in the muslim world rating: d...
