2 questions, actually. First, I have a Malata player (DVP-520) and have noticed on the PAL DVD's a 'shimmer' effect, especially on bright scenes with sharp details and the edge's of the letterbox. This is only present on PAL DVD's and not on NTSC. It is quite annoying, and only tolerable...
For fun and ideas, I'm looking for as many people as possible to list 10 (in no particular order) horror movies you plan on watching this week before Halloween. Here's mine... The Thing ('82) The Haunting (the original) Night of the Living Dead (B&W and/or remake) Halloween (yeah, I...
Any thoughts on the R2 (Japanese) version of Road Warrior and Thunderdome? I need these on DVD, and am not sure about the video and adio quality of the US release...any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
I'm debating over which version to purchase, the UK version or the German version (3 min. longer)...how do they compare audio and video wise? Also, where is an online retailer that I can purchase German DVD's from, I am in the USA. Thanks
Checking out aintitcool.com's Kill Bill set reports, Harry asked Quentin about the Dogs transfer, here's an excerpt: Also, about the RESERVOIR DOGS dvd – Quentin hasn’t seen this DVD yet but is concerned about the allegations that it is desaturated and greenish. I didn’t really notice this on...
I finally purchased a PAL/NTSC DVD player, the new Malata DVP-520. I noticed something on the documentary on the second disc (Game of Death), various clips and interviews will appear either horizontally or vertically squeezed...is this intentional? I find it somewhat distracting, and am not sure...
According to Corona/Coming Attractions web site, this SE is coming out in January, and will include the complete alternate opening (as a deleted scene, I assume) as well as the famous Carpenter/Russell commentary, and a trailer...hopefully it will include more extras, perhaps a retrospective...
Just purchased the Mallrats SE (I know, what the hell took me so long!) and have noticed a problem. During the movie, my player generated 'angle' icon (as opposed to the DVD icon) appears when the video commentary is accessible. I have checked all of the set-up menu's and everything is set...
First off, is Austrailia NTSC or PAL? I'm considering purchasing some R4 titles and only have a multi-region player (no PAL converter, Malata coming soon though!). Also, where would be a good online store to purchase R4 titles, that would ship over seas?
Thanks
Jim
Wasn't the Speed SE supposed to have been announced several month's ago? I think thedigitalbits hinted at that...and what is the story with True Lies? last I heard was a delay due to the sensitivity of 9/11...is this true?
Speaking of Fox, I was wondering if we (America) will be seeing the...
Who has it? When will we see it? This is an 80's classic, gotta have a DVD special edition of this one, just gotta!!!
Anyone else love this movie?
Jim
p.s. For that matter, where the hell is Alligator? These seem like PERFECT Anchor Bay or Elite titles!
I have an ibook with a DVD player and according to the documents, you can select a specific region code only a few times before it defaults to a permanent selection...does anyone know of a piece of shareware that will disable this? Or something I can do so that I can play any region unlimited...
MGM, many here at the forum have expressed concern over the aspect ratio of this cult classic. If you have not, we ask that you please involve Dan O'Bannon in any decisions and that this film get a special edition treatment. Thanks.
Jim
I remember watching this on HBO in the mid-eighties all the time, I prefer it over Heavy Metal, though I still enjoy HM too.
So, does it belong to MGM? I believe they released it P&S on LD way back.
Anyone else remember/like this one?
Jim
By the end of this year, Peter Jackson will be a well known name, no better reason to put this one out on DVD, well, except that it's a damn good (and creepy) film!
I believe this is a Miramax title, right?
Jim
Any posibility of this title making it to DVD next year or so? Perhaps a special edition?
Thanks
Jim
p.s. This was brought up in the software section, thought a response might be more likely here.
