    An Ethical Question

In another thread, a guy went shopping, found what he wanted and then went ahead and bought used off a'gon. Someone else chimed in and said he was merely "shopping" Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? I would love to hear if these guys ever ran a business. And I am sure these are the...

Need a fair dealer in SF

VP of mine was getting ripped at a place, and I called them out on it. Store got all worried when I told him to substitute a few pieces, and then when he asked for a discount, they balked. He walked away. In NYC i could have gotten 20% off at least on the package. Anyways, he is looking to get...

Saw new B&W Sig 805s Today...

Store in Santa Monica just got them and is breaking them in. Beautiful finish...i mean, striking. (this was a redding eye maple finish, not the tiger--although they come in that as well) Sizewise, the same as the 805. I didn't listen to them as they had so few hours on them and I want to...

Best receiver for me? Integra vs. Denon vs. Sony

I have 5 NHT SuperZeros for a separate ht system (full tube 2 ch. system elsewhere) with Carver sub. I watch a bunch on my plasma and want DPLII. Also want to use dvd-audio and maybe multi sacd (have RP91 and XA777ES) Live in apartment, so no 7.1 now, but want it for future. Which of...

Well, finally test-drove a bunch this weekend...

To continue the thread I started a few weeks ago, in that I am moving out of NYC to LA and need a sports/sporty car! Finally got to Dallas and did some proper test-driving this past weekend. Went to the Acura dealership (i used to own an Integra and was interested in RSX), but just didn't...

    SVS on Music vs. REL

Looking to hear comments/opinions. I am thinking of integrating a new sub for HT, and want to play with using it with my 2 ch. tube system (all Cary). However, my Dyns are fast, and don't want to hear the sub a mile behind....they would be crossed over around 40hz. Oh yeah, no room for two subs.

    Interesting article in Stereophile....

A little bitty 25w tube amp driving the supposedly "tough to drive" Paradigm Studio 20s to enormous levels.... Also interesting was that the reviewer thought the 20s were better than the 100s with better "coherancy and imaging"...of course all of those in the floorstander vs. monitor thread my...

Alright car gurus, need your help---

I am being transferred from NYC to LA this summer, and have begun the search for a car. I am 25, so no exotics please as the insurance will kill me. I am looking from 30-40k. Some things to note is that I am 6'2" so a lot of roadsters aren't particularly comfortable. Also, since LA is...

Topic for Discussion: Audio/Video Most Important for HT?

I think this is a cool subject, as we can hear opinions of which makes the more "cinema" experience. With all the talk of subs/receivers/dvd players/speakers/big screens, it will be interested to see what people like the most. I'll start... I think a big screen is the only way for a cinema...

    The best dvd player period??

Doesn't it have to be an HTPC...as there is no D/A conversion to output video. As such, all the scaling, processing etc is done in the digital domain. Question for thought....and your thoughts are welcome!

    Plasma guys anywhere?

Thinking of buying the new Pannie 42" as my bonus present to myself. How do they compare to the Sony and Nec in this price range? Do they do 1080i, and are therefore HDTV upgradable? I saw one today, and it REALLY did BLACK...looked unbelievable. Also saw the new Samsung FLCD today at...
