    Bridging head unit amp?

I'm replacing my head unit in my car because the current one is broken. I only have two speakers but all the head units are 4 channels (20W X 4). I have looked into specs and owners manuals with no luck. Does anyone know of a HU brand that allows amp bridging (ie 40W X 2). Thanks, Joe

DMB Bartender 5.1 vs. stereo version

Dave Mathews Band - "Bartender" 5.1 vs. stereo version I'm wondering how your systems compare between the 5.1 version on the DVD vs. the stereo version on the CD. The real question is the difference in base on the instrument(oboe?) that periodically hits 4 notes (E-E-D-E?). On the 5.1...

Using a 7 ch amp to power an SVS 20-39 CS+?

I am in the market for a 5 channel amp. I was wondering if it made since to buy a 7 channel amp and use channel 6 for a back speaker and channel 7 to drive the SVS. Does this make since? The Outlaw 770 is rated for 300 watts RMS x 7 @ 4 ohms. This should drive the SVS, right? I was previously...

How much to spend on a Receiver or Pre/Pro/Amp

Let's say I have a new 5 speaker set worth $4,000 MSRP (not including sub) and want to upgrade my receiver. How much is reasonable to spend on a receiver or a Pre/Pro and Amp? I have no plans to upgrade the speakers any time soon. Joe

Another boring (but short) 20-39CS+ SVS Review!!

What? 20-39CS+ and a 1000 Watt Sampson amp. Replacing? Take 5 eight inch subwoofer Speakers? B&W CDM7NT Results? I started off calibrating the subwoofer with AVIA, set at 75 db, no more. Next I went to a reference CD (Sheffield Sampler disc) that I have used to judge just...

    Ceiling surrounds

My wife's cousin is buying a killer condo on the water and wants a HT sound system to match. He wants 7.1 (although he doesn't know what that means!) but he has no way of putting surround and rears anywhere but in the ceiling!! His installer uses Speaker Craft, Snell, Linn, Revel, etc. Will...

    Pre/Pro without video inputs?

I would love to go to separates, but the price seems to be prohibitive. Are there good pre/pro with DD EX and DTS ES (maybe I got my es/ex backward) that doesn't do video switching? My RPTV does that fine and I would just soon not have that video noise in my pre/pro. (Someone suggested there...

    Mits 65807??

My kids (teenagers) want 65" not 55". They want 16X9, not 4X3. The Mits 807 fits the budget. We will sit about 13 feet from the screen. I expect it will get used for mostly DVD's, we have average cable. I have an old Toshiba DVD player, no plan to upgrade to a progressive immediately. 65"...
