Chris....yes you're right...can't seem to get the red tube to cooperate in that pesky lower right corner. I'll try again when I have renewed patience and a few spare hours... Thanks again for the tip. Dan
Thanks for the reply Chris. Your settings are only half the story though. Because the Denon and it's PS signal is a new kind of input- diferent from what my old Sony DVD put out- the tubes had to be re-registered. I found the Sony Service Manual for the D50-Q online http://www.vidya.com/D50/...
I have a Sony VPH-D50Q CRT front projector with the built in line doubler board (EXB-DS10) and I recently upgrade my DVD player to a Denon DVD-2900 with progessive scan output. The problem is I can't get the projector to see the PS output. I turned off the board (on the setup menu) and tried...
Having loved Shyamalan's last two features I was absolutely shocked at how bad this movie was. SF is my favourite genre and I'm always complaining Howllywood doesn't put out enough Science Fiction, so I'm pretty easy to please (I loved Dune) but this film is tedious, badly written, with...
Chris, For Home Theater 140 watts will be fine. I got the red lights flashing on the Bryston while listening to Santana at high volume. Get these speakers man, you won't be sorry. And in the future if you upgrade your amp, you'll fall in love with their sound all over again. Dan
I was driving mine with a Bryston 9B but the 120 watts per ch wasn't enough and I was getting red overdrive lights on the amp. I now have a Cinepro 3K6 (400w per ch)and they sound incredible, like I went out and bought new speakers. These speakers are real power hogs. D.
Hi, Now that Cinepro has (temporarily?) gone out of business, I'm looking for information from Cinepro 3K6 owners on how to do a 110 to 220v power conversion on the amp. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Dan
This is really bad news. I've been saving for three years to buy a Cinepro 3K6III and now that I'm finally ready to order I read this. You can't buy 6x400 watt amp in Cinepro's price range that I know of- and I've looked. Very sad. I can only hope someone buys the company and starts...
I suppose I could have re-phrased the original
post question to something like this........
If I have a set with a built in line doubler,
should I bother to spend the $$$ to upgrade
to a progressive scan DVD player?
I can't do a test if I don't buy and
I won't buy if it's not going...
I'm thinking of buying a new DVD player
with a progressive scan output. I'll use
the player's component output into my FPTV which has
a built in line doubler.
Will the scan be quadrupled (sp?) or what?
How will the image be effected? Anybody know?
Thanks,
Dan
Dave,
I agree the 100's are nice but because my
HT room isn't very wide they are a bit obtrusive.
I bought the speakers before I bought the screen
and FPTV.
Before I consider selling them for matching fronts,
I think I'll do a test by putting them up on blocks horizonataly and have...
This post has be sitting over in the speaker
forum for a day or so with no replies. Can anybody
here help me out?

I've got Studio 100's running off a
5ch Bryston HT amp @ 120 watts per.
With movies the Bryston is ok although
the red overdrive lights (not enough
power to the speakers) go on during some EFX
scenes. Music is a whole different story though.
I'm constantly getting red light warnings...
Neil,
Yes V.E. does have an adjustment
when you can't do the pluge test properly.
Trouble is, it's really only a half measure
and doesn't fix the problem of crushed blacks
in the films I'm watching.
From the responses in this and other forums it looks
like the problem does...
Kevin,
I don't think the 7700 has that black
level adjustment in the setup menu.
I've been through the menus and the
manual again and can't find any mention of it.
Are you sure it's available in my model DVD player?
Dan
I hope it's ok to post this in this forum.
I'm reposting this from the DVD Player
area in the hopes of more feeback. (I heard
this is where all the techs hang out)
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Keith,
Yes the S7700 was fairly expensive when I bought
it 31/2 years ago, about $1800 cdn. if I remember.
This pluge problem could be the projector but
I doubt it. I guess the only way to be sure is
to get my hands on a new model DVD player and
put it through some tests. Trouble is...
I recently tried to do a video lineup
with the Video Essentials DVD and
had trouble with the pluge test. I could
not see the "blacker than black" test signal.
With the DVD came a notice which said........
"The established method for setting the brightness
control as described in...
OK, no replies after a couple of days.
I'll simplify the question.
Has anybody else noticed the Godafather part 1
and/or Dr. Doolittle pt 2 to be very contrasty
with loss of detail in the black areas of some scenes, especially interiors?
I love movies but hate movie theaters,
that's why I put one in my home.
As far as the widescreen experience goes,
with a hi end FPTV and 110 inch 16x9 screen,
sitting 15 feet from my screen is almost the same
as sitting 50 feet back from the local movie house's
big screen, angle of...
I'm posting this here in the software section in the
hopes that both Godfather fans and people with some
tech knowledge of FPTV's can help me figure out
if I'm having a problem with my projector or not.
Now before I get to the question, I want to avoid
another Godfather transfer...
Apparently The audio/video setup DVD "Video Essentials" is no longer being produced. If someone has a copy they
want to sell me (Canada Only pls our dollar is in the
dumper) or anyone knows where to get it FOR SURE, I'd
appreciate a reply.
I say for sure because I've spent
the last...
As I said to a previous poster the Studio
100's need power if you want to rock. My
amp is rated at 120 watts per channel and is not
nearly enough.
I'd say a minimum of 200 watts per channel
otherwise the red clipping lights will
start flashing.
I'm saving up for a Cinepro and my...
If you are considering a Paradigm upgrade...........
I have the Studio 100's. The good news is
are they are, if not the best, one of
the best speakers in that price range.
The bad news is, if you like to rock,
they need POWER. I have found 200 watts
minimum if you like your music...
