You are saying the benefit with monopoles for music outweighs the benefit of dipoles for movies. You must be saying this because I watch more movies than listen to music (albeit only on a 40/60 ratio) and I would think that since my movie watching is slightly more I should go with...
I have searched this board for this topic and it does not seem to be addressed too well (maybe some information got lost in the server changeover). But here is my question:
I am choosing surrounds. Should go with the Reference Studio ADPs? or the Studio/20s. My use is 40/60 music to movies...
Days of Wine and Roses?!?!?? That's a bit depressing. Jack Lemmon tells his kid mommy's never going to come back b/c she is a drunk...? How mushy and wonderfully tearjerking.
Speaking of drunks, how about Creator with Peter O'Toole?

That's usually the case for me too (although I do not rent from BB, I sometimes just look at what they are offering in the new release section before settling on what to buy from the purchase area), but you and I live in Chicago, the home of the more sophisticated shopper I guess. The...

So, in effect, by zooming in, we are preserving OAR (director's intent), but, in fact, we are losing part of the picture, i.e. the non-intentended to be viewed portion. So therefore, we shouldn't necessarily use Christmas Vacation as a DVD of example for the J6Ps of the world to show...
So....if I zoom in to "Theater Wide" on my Toshiba 56H80, because Xmas Vacation is in full frame and not P&S then I am getting the proper matte for the movie??? That doesn't make sense....someone please enlighten me, because I am about to break down as well......I cannot do Christmas without...
I am the home theater "guy" in my family, and my Mom and Dad are always coming over to watch new releases on my 56H80 Widescreen (they marvel at Private Ryan DTS). My dad is always in awe of the sound, picture, etc.
Of course, being a child of the depression (and in this economy) he doesn't...
I agree with all who post....I hate blockbuster, I usually am annoyed by most of their employees who are never very helpful, and I defintitely hate the upper management that I never get to express my hatred to (have not emailed them as of yet).
My question to you all is that almost every week...
Why would they airbrush that famous leg crossing scene if that was in the rated version which was the R-rated theatrical release. That makes no sense. Are the studios doing their own censoring now?

While they are at it, they should probably pull The Peacekeeper, The Beast, Not Without My Daughter, and Rules of Engagement.
Disney probably would if they owned them. Any other suggestions?

I agree with AdrianJ, the cases can keep the monotony out, but the little round tin is a bit impractical. THe Basic Instinct case is standard size, just a little odd (especially with no title on the spine). Ice pick pen is odd, but those studios like to come up with something! Anybody...
Just watched the DVD (unrated), and took some notes with the Icepick Pen. I thought I would make some comments.
I thought the color was very good, and although I do not do review DVDs professionally, I did not see a great deal of edge enhancements which I thought was beneficial (although I...
As I wanted to save everybody's time in answering my question, but the search engine seems to be down, so I will ask the board now.
I have an opportunity to get Triad Home Theater Speakers at 60% of retail from a High End Electronic Contractor--he sets up home theaters for the likes of Quentin...

While my sentiments regarding IAMMMMMW are exactly the same as the above posts, I want to reinforce to you that the people on this board are essentially ambassadors of the studios to the masses, and I vocalize my sentiment regarding the poor treatment of a particular DVD quite often to my...
What about Wes Craven's PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS?
How about a nice 16 x 9 (no SE or extra features needed, well ok maybe the trailer and some production notes)
One that always liked, but never get to see enough
Hi.... Ihave a questions regarding Cable TV. By the way I want to thank everyone who has been replying to my posts and others. The help I am receiving is incredible!!! Thanks again.
OK.....I am purchasing a Toshiba 40H80 and I am NOT buying the set-top tuner.
I currently have bargain...
Hey....
Should I wait to buy a HDTV with firewire connections? Since Sony and Mitsubishi are coming out with models, the trend starting would be that this input might be really nice to have.
Any opinions?
I have heard a lot of people (boith here and on other forums) that say it is a necessity to have the Toshiba 40H80 professionally calibrated for $300. What's up with that?
Is it necessary? Do I have to build in that expense?
Can I just do it myself?
Enlighten me......thanks!
OK.....Should I with the Tosh 40H80, or the SOny KP-48v85.
Or, I'll take suggestions on any HD 16:9 TV.
Thanks.
Oh, and also....will I notice a huge difference between a Sony 570D and a progressive scan DVD? I have the 570D in a box unopened, but if I get a HDTV, should I spend 400+ more for...
