I don't believe it's been mentioned in this thread yet, but we have restored and reissued Ivan Passer's BORN TO WIN, a United Artists title from 1971. This is the worldwide Blu-ray premiere of the film.
Our RANCHO DELUXE Blu-ray will be up for pre-order on 7/1 at noon eastern over at vinegarsyndrome.com. This is a worldwide Blu-ray debut for this title.
We actually created that master of I START COUNTING, which has now been released by BFI. MGM had nothing to do with it except supplying us with the IP we worked from.
Whatever logo (if any) is on the film element we're working from, is what will be on the master.
I'm happy to report that of titles mentioned in this thread, Fun City Editions (which I happen to be the proprietor of) has released or will release I START COUNTING and SMILE.
We've also released JEREMY and have RANCHO DELUXE upcoming.
We created new 2K masters of each of these titles, as...
This trailer is derived from the new 4K master sourced from the OCN. You can expect that the Blu-ray will look similar, albeit not compressed like this YouTube clip.
Big fan of this one, very underrated. Not deserving in the least of the "disco sucks"-tinged derision it's received over the years. Great soundtrack utilizes the Casablanca stable, including the likes of Eurodisco maestros Giorgio Moroder and Alec R. Costandinos. The reviews which cite the...
Did we ever get to the bottom of the wildly divergent ONE FROM THE HEART Blu-ray reviews? Robert's was a rave, while some other sites were extremely harsh on the transfer.
Hi Robert,
Whatever did you conclude about the release of ONE FROM THE HEART, which remains exclusive to the Coppola box set? Yours was a rave, while some other sites blasted the transfer...
Thanks,
Jonathan
Gustav Hasford's The Short-Timers (the basis for Full Metal Jacket) has a scene in which a group of increasingly drunk and rowdy grunts laugh their way through a screening of The Green Berets, its depiction of the conflict so ridiculously far from their actual experiences in Vietnam.
The newly reopened Quad Cinema just completed a Goldie retrospective and I thoroughly enjoyed the double feature of PRIVATE BENJAMIN and SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES. Both prints had seen better days and I was surprised to see, when I checked later, that PB has still never been released in widescreen...
Love this film. One of the best of the many coming-of-age films released in the '80s. I've owned it on VHS, full-frame DVD, widescreen WA DVD, and will now grab this Blu-ray. A note about the music, since that is what most here are discussing: Tangerine Dream's original score was...
Glad to hear you've gotten so much out of this disc, Robert. This re-release has been a labor of love. Hopefully, we open a few more eyes up to this film, as it definitely seems to be either a "love it" or "never heard of it" proposition.
Giving this a bump, as I'm hopeful that MAGNUM might come to Blu-ray, as other Universal series like MIAMI VICE, KNIGHT RIDER, and AIRWOLF have, through Mill Creek. Was reminded of MAGNUM today, on the heels of the announcement of the development of a new series focusing on Magnum's daughter.
Happy to report that I finally bought the Olive Blu-ray and it contains the original theatrical soundtrack. "Shout" is back in for "Surfin' Bird." "A Lover's Concerto" is back in for "Sweet Talkin' Guy." "A Hazy Shade of Winter" and "At the Zoo" are back in for "I Call Your Name" and "Do You...
Thanks, ROclockCK, for the seal of approval.
This is a fairly brand-new HD master, premiering on MGM-HD a little over a year ago, which accounts, at least partially, for why it looks so good.
