Thanks for the comments on the displays. I’m hoping to upgrade to a mini and monitor this year, and I’m really unsure what monitor I’d get. I don’t want to spend Apple money, but I’m so used to the 5K display that I’m not sure I can’t. :)
Jump to about 31:30. They recommend buying MultiEQ-X if you’ve got an AV10, and not use Audyssey mobile app if you’re taking the time to run room correction on a $7000 processor. There are some passing comments too on tweaking Audyssey to get best results from it.
(Also some great discussion...
It’s a user-made script to automatically do a bunch of Audyssey stuff to optimize applying your measured corrections. Jump to about 2:30 into the video, and read the “About” section for the video for info. (It requires a newer Marantz supporting the Audyssey app. So I can’t try it on my older...
Never upgraded from PS4 to PS5, and initially was excited to see the PS5 Pro rumor: that would be a good upgrade Christmas present this year. And then I remembered that PS5 were in short supply until last year; maybe they still are, I haven’t look for pricing lately. So, will a PS5 Pro be...
Watched The Creator last night, streaming on Hulu / Disney. It was enjoyable. The first half was great, during all the setup and world building and while it was still a thoughtful scifi story. The second half, when it became a ridiculous, impossible, action movie was increasingly less...
I should have noted, I‘m sure your interpretation is right, for what they were going for. But their visualization of it doesn’t work for me in world. :)
I'd have to go back and rewatch the scene, but what I saw was he's not observing it directly. He's seeing it a on a computer screen, whose image is being created either by interpreting data or by a camera (ahem) watching the physical pattern on the Science Box and then creating and showing an...
Watched the third episode lost night. I figured out what was driving me crazy about the show, what didn’t make sense: I came at Constellation thinking it’s a scifi show. But it’s a horror fantasy show wrapped in scifi trappings.
The ”science” is terrible. Breaks the show’s reality bad. On top...
Harry in love with Heather is season-1-bonkers, delightfully cringey fun to watch. Asta and Darcy’s plan to break them up by “confiding” with Heather how bad a partner Harry would be backfired as we knew it would — though I expected that to play out over an episode or two and not be resolved in...
What a weird launch strategy: release the first episode, and the let everyone forget about the show with a month gap before the second episode.
Why didn’t CBS / Paramount just wait until April to launch the series?
My wife showed me this news just minutes ago! I have to figure out how to watch this — is there an AMC service I have to subscribe to? And have to figure out how to remember what happened in season three!
Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse reworks about four logos with a sonic soundscape as prelude to the opening sequence with movie theme. (I was reminded of this this afternoon doing a stream vs disc comparison with this movie. :) )
When Damsel started and the intro was sluggish, I was concerned I'd sat down to Netflix high-budget-low-quality movie of the week. Then I realized it was MBB leading, and I relaxed knowing it would be fun.
Millie Bobbie Brown has created her own movie brand: Mid-budget action/adventure movie...
Two episodes in, and I’m thinking this might be the first bad AppleTV show (and especially bad scifi show) I’ve watched.
It’s just random and weird and inchoate. And when everything is strange, then nothing is strange. At this point, I have no idea what’s going on, all questions, no answers...
I contacted Universal and they said they’d send a replacement, and it would take 4-6 weeks. It arrived today, after just one week. That’s good.
It didn’t freeze at the 0:57 minute mark, which is even better!
At some point I’ll have to give it another play to see if it’s broken some other...
Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I didn’t watch the 2005 movie, so I have nothing to compare to. But this is odd. I’ve watched the first two episodes and I’m not sure I’ll continue. It’s intensely awkward: the story is grounded on the discomfit of two people who don’t know each other and are both now married...
Looks like Crawdaddy is able to sort things for you. (I gave a look but I don’t know how to do it.)
For anyone who uses a password manager: keep a hard copy of your master password(s) in a safe, bank lock box, whatever for safekeeping and recovery in case of minor or major disaster. :)
If I understand, these m3 MBA support two external monitors, up from just one monitor of the m1 MBA.
I don’t laptop so I’m looking forward to the rumored iPad Pro and Air updates this year. And hoping for an m3 mini.
I just pledged this new game kickstarter at the Future CEO level. I saw it at PAX U last December and was immediately taken with its aesthetic and theme. The overall gameplay is worker placement with some tweaks recent games use to improve the form. And following the creators on Facebook I saw...
WaPo has review of Elsbeth based on the first three episodes released to critics. In summary, it's non-political escapism -- more Poker Face than The Good Fight in my interpretation.
Some quotes in spoilers, because the review comments directly on the political themes of The Good Wife and The...
Started watching this week and are caught up on the three released. I'm struggling a bit with the two year gap since Season 2 and forgetting details about the grays / hybrids, what happened with the bounty hunter, and the alien-abducted baby of Ben and Kate.
I need to find some Season 2 episode...
What’s not being rumored is an m3 mini, which is a bummer. I planned to replace my 2017 i5 iMac with an m3 mini and monitor this year. But it’s not looking good for that plan now. So I’ll keep my iMac for another year and get an m3 or m4 mini next year, I suppose...
