Yay! Finally, the Kurosawa/Mifune retrospective has hit Dallas! I've been waiting since last summer, and had feared it just wasn't coming to town. But here it is, at The Magnolia Theater. This weekend, and through the 17th, are... Drunken Angel I live in Fear and... [drumroll please]...
EDIT; The deal is dead. :frowning:
Click the pic to go to a short survey (find the "GIVE-AWAY" link on the page linked to) for a free Midnite Movies poster. The one shown is for The Raven, but they don't say anywhere that that's the actual poster this offer is for, nor do they list the size. I...
I have confirmed this at the LBJ/Midway location, not sure about other metroplex locations, although the ad does say "Dallas", no specific location. Every dvd regularly priced 9.99 and up is on sale for $3 off. There are no signs, the employees don't walk right up and tell you, but trust me...
Okay fellow Kubrick fans, Jan Harlan and Christiane Kubrick are working on a book about Stanley's never-filmed Napoleon, which will include the script.
Read about it here.
I like the chance to read the script. And how much you wanna bet Spielberg takes up the cause?
So is it too early for the Official Die Another Day thread? ;)
Well, here's the advance poster for the new James Bond movie anyway. I think it looks pretty cool. :)
Man, I was lookin' forward to maybe picking up what I had hoped would be a cool poster for GoNY, but I think these blow. :frowning:
Click the pic if you're interested, but I won't be getting them.
I went to see Last Orders today. I haven't seen any coverage on this, but it was playing at the Anjelika theater in Dallas, and it was pretty good. It's a subtle british movie about a group of old codgers who go on a road trip to spread the ashes of one of their own. It has a monumental cast...
So far as I can tell, MGM ended up with the majority of Polygram titles from Seagram back in '98 (look here...).
If you go to Amazon, they list the Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii VHS video as a "Uni/Mercury" title. I'm taking "Uni" to mean Universal, but originally, the film was a Polygram title...
For any Goldsmith fans out there, I've just run across a few very interesting items over at Film Score Monthly that I personally am very excited about. Maybe some of you will be too...

Let's have a hand for the man!
I've been enjoying his films on dvd, what few there are, and would love to have as near an original representation as possible of Metropolis on dvd. I've never seen the film in any form except for a few clips here and there, in rock videos and such, and stills in...
While I'm waiting impatiently for new Blue Oyster Cult remasters, I've been picking up the Motorhead ones. Now, I've never listened to Motorhead before, so I don't know much about 'em, but I gotta say, these cds kick ass. Oh, I've heard a few things here and there, like Killed By Death...
I have never seen this film, but thought I would try it out, as I have always had a fascination with the grotesque, mysticism, and the occult. I've just finished watching this dvd, and found that Haxan delivers in spades.
This 1922 Swedish silent film by Danish director Benjamin Christensen -...
Okay, so I'm looking for a scanner. Basically, I need to start selling of my comics and hardback books. I am a detail fiend! I want extremely clear pictures, and I guess editing software. The deal is that, as I'm sure several of you know, comic values are very condition sensitive. I want people...
Just opened my new Emma Peel/Avengers Mega-Set today, and boy does it kick butt! 16 dvds chock full of Ms. Emma Peel and Steed. Just finished watching the first dvd, and these bring back the memories! No, I didn't watch 'em in 65, but I did catch them on reruns when I was a kid, and they...

I just realized that all of the remaining Hammer Chris Lee Dracula's still not on dvd are in Warner's tightly sealed vault. *sigh* Dates are for U.K. release. Some U.S releases were delayed, up to as much as over three years!
Dracula, a.k.a. Horror of Dracula, 1958 - Warner, unreleased on dvd...

It's from the official merchandising company, and they're obviously debating whether to release Xena (uhh, and Hercules) on dvd or not.
Battle on!
