    Ascend Owners: Break-in Time?

Hi Paul, It sounds to me like you might be slightly "clipping" your receiver. That is, your receiver is putting out more power than it is capable and the waveform is being squared at the top and bottom which is distortion. Are you hearing this distortion more from music or HT applications...

A response to a forum member question

To All, First off, I must say thank god. Now we are TALKING. This is what a forum is all about and why I had mentioned in a previous thread that I preferred the newsgroups to this forum. My opinion on this is changing. In this single thread we have now had 2 administrators, the owner of a...

A response to a forum member question

This thread has become most interesting! To Chu Gai, Yes, I love your comment about the never ending infomercial. Even this thread itself which I started has become part of it. Once again, Diva and Rocket comparisons, Rockets are better. Mark L Shifter PRESIDENT and FOUNDER perpetual...

    M&K Speakers opinions/suggestions?

To anyone interested: My experience with M&Ks has been positive over the years. I applaud them for being THE innovators in sat/sub technology and for not selling out and mass producing everything overseas to save a buck. S-150s, the 750 system, even the old discontinued S-1b are all fine...

Hi LarryB, Thanks for letting me know about the one too many zero's. Gawd - I had to read it a few times to even notice! Regarding your post about anti-Diva, I have addresses this in a new thread because it is way off topic and is subject to a separate discussion. You can find that thread...

The $ensible Sound - Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 Review

Ben, I purchased an Ascend system close to two years ago and have enjoyed it very much as well. Those guys have worked hard over the years and I am glad to see that they will be getting some printed coverage finally. Yes, the posts at the newsgroups are quite entertaining. HTF is too bland...

Speakers...Can I do better for my money than these?

Hi Eric, I thing your best best IS to buy from a direct seller such as the brands you mentioned. I have owned an Ascend system for close to 2 years and it has been nothing short of spectacular and I am a major audio hobbyist/junky/addict and quite critical of my equipment.

    $800 budget: 5 new speakers?

I must agree with Bryan's post. For $800 for five speaker you can't beat 5 CBM-170s from Ascend Acoustics. IMHO, even at several $1000 you can't beat the CBM-170s.

who makes the best reciever with front a/v

Ok... Please excuse my lengthy post here. But, I feel the need to educate further. A few examples below of the absolutely ridiculous so called "nominal impedance" rating... OK here we go.. Here is the impedance curve of the very popular JBL S38 speaker.. This speaker is rated at 8ohms...

who makes the best reciever with front a/v

I am apologizing ahead of time if just in case I offend someone. To Sean Con: Wow, you do have very very much to learn! First off, under no circumstances do you ever put a resistor (or capacitor which is what you are referring to) in series with a speaker. This greatly affects the internal...

    Too many choices _ Help!!!!

I must agree, Try to avoid the "Small Speaker Syndrome" like the plague. While these speakers tend to sound adequate for home theater at first, their deficiencies become readily apparent when music is played. Over time they become annoying for even home theater due to the limited bandwidth...
