Maybe for the ad-free tier, but I don't think for the ad-supported tier. More eyeballs means more $$$ from advertisers, so the streamers are going to want to keep the barrier to entry low.
Unlike the big boys, though, Apple TV+ will be an easy one to cancel when the shows I care about finish a season because they have such a small amount of original/exclusive content.
Frustrating as that is, since the settlement includes a portion of the profits, the court may actually be supportive of that if the production can show that completing the film will allow them to ultimately finance the settlement in a more robust way.
This week's episode finally caught us up to the flash forward at the beginning of the premiere. We know four key things that we didn't before:
And then there's some reliable assumptions we can make:
A couple big questions yet to be answered:

This would have been subversive had it been made in the seventies, pre-Princess Leia. As it is, the big twist is obvious a mile away, so the audience spends the entire first act ahead of the heroine, as we sit through a pretty uninspired traditional fantasy movie.
Once she gets thrown into the...
The Holdovers Accused of Plagiarism by Luca Writer
This isn't some nobody trying to make a quick buck off vague similarities; it's an established screenwriter who (apparently) has the receipts to prove his allegations. It will be awkward if The Holdovers wins best original screenplay tonight.
Well, I can confidently say that I don't have any compromising photos of Fandango executives, and the following titles have upgraded to 4K for me on Vudu in recent weeks:
03/04/2024: Contagion (Upgraded from HDX to 4K UHD)

Definitely. But usually they're post online at the same time as they go out with a new release film. So when a major new release is coming out from the same studio, it's a good time to anticipate a trailer online.
Because it happened so close by, the case has been a major ongoing story on the local news in my area.
I'm glad the driver took responsibility, and I'm impressed and moved by the grace and empathy shown by Williams's son and wife.
Pleasant surprise when a second season dropped this week on Hulu. It's a very Irish sense of humor, which I love. All of the characters have grown since the first season, and Jen in particular is less shitty of a person this time around. I hope there's a third season.
Agreed, and one that will incentivize others in her line of work to exercise maximum diligence in the future.
I think a criminal verdict for Baldwin would be much more of a reach. My guess is that the wrongful death suit that he's already settled will be the extent of his penalty.

I always hate learning that we've lost another regular. I couldn't find an obituary for him, but in a way his volume of posts here and elsewhere provide their own sort of record of who he was and what he valued.
One thing I am appreciating with this show so far is the pacing. Each of these first two episodes would have been dragged out over an entire season on the mothership.
Saw the trailer before Drive-Away Dolls tonight. Looks great. I would love more tales from the wasteland that broaden our perspective beyond the bit that Max Rockatansky personally experiences.
Though the fact that the original Mad Max was set "a few years from now", and this prequel to Fury...

Ethan Coen's first feature without his brother operates in a similar tone (and time period) to "Raising Arizona" and "The Big Lebowski".

Structurally, this feels a lot like "Columbo", with the commission of the crime shown up front so that the audience knows the perpetrator from the get-go. Elsbeth even gets in the occasional "Just one more thing". It's a smart choice, given that Elsbeth and Columbo both have their share of...
