Darn I wish I knew that Weds. The cable guy was out here to bring a substitute DVR while my Tivo is out for exchange. But I will try it myself tomorrow.
Thanks guys I thought I read that going the 3-prong to 2-prong was not advisable. It most certainly seems like the least expensive way, but I don't want to cause any damage. Have you guys seen this done in practice? Parker I wish I could think of something I may have turned off, but I...
Any suggestions-not too expensive if possible for the ground loop issue? The hum definitely goes away the second I unhook the cable tv cable coming in from the wall? Is there something I can pick up at Home Depot or Radio Shack?
As of this minute-The Tivo is working with the AVR through toslink. Still no HDMI access. The Oppo HDMI directly out to TV is working fine. I need to check the Oppo HDMI out through AVR. The ground loop is from the Cable TV cable-If I unhook it from the splitter, the hum completely goes...

Basic situation. hdtv digital cable set top box. (Comcast) Panasonic PT-40LC12 TV Pioneer VSX-D711 Receiver. When I had just a digital cable box I was able to use my PiP with no problems. Now the 2nd picture comes in as all fuzz. Its the same fuzz I would get if the TV wasn't set to...
Thanks Stephen & Mark Alan(which happens to be my first and middle name-same spelling)for your help. Does anybody recommend just a stand alone Tivo? I know I started this thread asking about FAQ's, but now I am thinking about simplicity. If you haven't noticed yet, I am a very indecisive...
So it looks like the Comcast DVR and Pioneer DVR810HS are not recomended. So should I just go with TiVo Series2 DVR? Is there something other than the Pioneer that people endorse? I'm not sure if I mentioned my desired need for this DVR or whatever it's called. I basically want to use it as...
I just realized, I don't have a TV PIP input. I guess that means that I have 2 receivers since I can get PIP with just the one cable from the outside going to TV main. And the TV main is the only RF connection available. How can I use the splitter to work now or any other suggestions?
Thanks Stephen I am currently stuck with Comcast Cable. I live in a condo with no access to the Southern Sky. I actually like Comcast and have no problem with it. Their DVR is not available in my area yet, it should be soon. Comcast doesn't offer a lot of description or specs of their DVR...
Hi I just won a grand at Foxwoods Casino and trying to figure out what to do with it. I thought I would look into DVD recorders or DVR's or Tivo or whatever they are referred to. I'm looking for a good FAQ section somewhere that may be able to help me answer some questions. Also I have a...
If I have to use a splitter, is there any differences between them. For example is there a difference between Radio Shack Goldseries (15-1234) 75-Ohm Coax & Monster Cable 2 Way 2 GigaHertz RF Splitter (TGHZ-2RF) Thanks Mark
I got it "It sounds like your TV's audio is plugged into an analog OUTPUT of your receiver, not an INPUT". Thanks for your help. I thought the digital camera idea was the coolest thing since sliced bread. I SO wish someone would have mentioned it when I struggling several months back. I...
Ok, but will someone help me hook it back up if I screw it up? (of course I mean help me via this forum) Because I really had a hard time connecting it the first time. Mark
No I am talking about the TV noise or volume comes through the stereo speakers in all the situations I listed. The volume on the TV speakers make no sound when muted or turned down all the way. For example on the FM, I hear both the FM music AND TV volume through the stereo speakers. The TV...
Hi I can't figure this one out. Here are my components: A/V receiver: Pioneer VSX-D711 TV: Panasonic PT-40LC12 DVD: Panasonic RP62 HD Digital Cable Box: Motorola DCT5100 When I went to turn on my receiver to listen to FM and turned the volume up. Not only did the FM...
Jessie Thank you thank you thank you (he says bowing). As you can guess your advice worked. If I had read your suggestion closer the first time, you would not have had to post it a second time. Yes, set everything to the DVD setting. Well I probably will be back asking for tips on...
Is anyone familiar with the Pioneer VSX-D711? I can't seem to get the set up to work correctly. I have the optical digital out from my DVD to the optical digital in on my 711. Now the default setting for optical in is TV/SAT. But when I put on that setting (TV/SAT)it still shows analog...
What is the best way to hook up my Panasonic PT-40LC12 TV to my Pioneer VSX-D711 A/V receiver. I have digital cable and watch many movies on HBO...But We also watch a lot of regular TV. So I want to be able to just use the TV speakers for regular viewing and also be able to get perfect...
Selden If I were to hook all the components directly to the TV, what is the best connection method so that I could still have sound come through the receiver and get all the home theater advantages?
Switching is selecting a video and audio source through your receiver, not converting from one signal type to another. Switching is useful when your TV doesn't have enough video inputs for your video sources.

Are you saying that it is better to run your components through the TV than...
