Basically, I'd get the 850S, but it doesn't have DPL2 and my dad will be using the receiver for quite a bit of TV and VHS viewing. Well, maybe the 811S will be ok, but I'd like to get something with a few more features.
Well, the D851S is supposed to be like the D850S but adds DPL2, DTS NEO6, DD EX, 192kHz/24-bit DACs, 12V DC trigger, 3 Coax and 3 Optical inputs, and might have 7 channels of amplification at 120W /ch @8ohms... and all for about $450 street. Looks like it might be the budget receiver to get in...
For mostly HT I'd go with the Pioneer as it's pretty highly regarded for that use. For music you might want to consider a different maker and model. The key word is might. Go out and demo it somewhere and see what you think.
I'd love to get into vinyl in a major way but there's 3 reasons why I haven't.
1.) Cost of buying my favorite albums again... and I have ALOT of "favorite" albums. Not to mention some of them being very pricey, almost $100.
2.) Cost of a nice turntable, cartridge, tonearm, & phono preamp, LP...
That's the price from Sounddistributors, don't know if it's cheaper anywhere else.

I think list is $300.
Maybe you've been waiting for this one? A D605 doesn't go up for sale very often, this is a great opportunity for those looking for LD love. :)
*Pending Sale* Pioneer CLD-D605 LD player, beautiful condition, operates like new. In fact, it's played very few discs, maybe 20-25. It has both side...
I can agree with their choice of the Prelude MTS as a Class2 choice in speakers. I can't say enough good things about mine. I know I shouldn't care what reviewers and others think about the speakers I own... but it is cool to see them get recognized. It's shallow, I guess, but it does help me...
Great deal! :emoji_thumbsup: Those are some really nice HT amps.
Bi-amp those Polks and go to town! Or, you could just sit in your HT and enjoy `em... it's completely up to you. :)
Maybe he wouldn't like the Krell. I wasn't particularly impressed with the KAV-250 (it was a possible local trade and I was trying it out on my system), I thought it sounded kind of flat and lifeless. Add that in with their overly inflated prices and there's really no way I could recommend them...
Andrew,
Yes, that sounds cool. Though, it may be a while because I'm not sure how long it'll be before Outlaw gets to me. I placed my request in late February.
BTW, did you get your Rotel locally at Statement? I had to drive to Asheville to get my Integra, though I did buy it used (very...
Yeah, the D505, although a good player, isn't in the same league as the D704, 79, 99. The 59, though a decent player, isn't that great considering how much they usually cost. $400 for a D704 is very good.
